Mate its an irrelevance when they accepted £2.7m from two clubs. Clearly our first three bids were below their valuation. Whats even the point arguing this?
Everyone knows what Lawell is like. He is as tight as two coats of paint. I dont want to see us miss out on Barkas because he cant get a deal over the line again. Especially since ones in the past went on to be worth a lot more!

It's the typical Celtic board for you full of Tory business men trying to save money in any way possible .
But this season is like no other we are going for the ten and we should meet Athens valuation of the player and stop * about and we are only ten days from our first league game and still only got one first team keeper a * joke .

Exactly mate we should be moving heaven and earth to bring in quality. I think the price quotes seems reasonable enough given his age, ability, previous bids etc.
It would be nice for once to go into the first few competitive games with some added quality to compliment what is already there.

This is why I keep saying these * on the board are not Celtic supporters if they were they would be helping the manager in anyway possible in getting the ten .

At the time of lockdown there was 38 million in the bank and now season ticket money in and 3 million for winning the league from the spl .
Then you have the sponsorship deal and the new strips that are out as well * sake we have alot of money .

April to July then 20 million down still got money in the bank and sevco must be near bankruptcy then if you think we are struggling for money .

100% the main reason we have a surplus in the first place is profit from transfer fees.

It is all if buts and maybes but I feel most of our failings to qualify for CL Groups has been caused by a lack of investment when required. Over the past 8 years to have only qualified four times and having been put out by Legia, Maribor, AEK Athens and Cluj is really poor. These clubs operate of far smaller cost bases than us but put us out, AEK are probably the only one that even comes close.

It looks like we are going to do the same this year based on so far and with the perfect excuse of the virus.

Now I am not expecting massive spending and know financially we will have taken a hit but if we know what AEK wants for Barkas and it’s above what we are willing to pay then we should be targeting players in our price range. I am not against a feeler lowish bid but if you have head room get another bid in and get the deal done or move on quickly.

It always seems to be, we are waiting on some Window/ this year league to end, but the reality is we pay the price for this by failing to meet one of the seasons main objectives before we have even given ourselves a the best chance.

Given the Club have asked fans to take a leap of faith and buy season tickets, if the focus is on minimising the impact on surplus I think that will be unforgivable.

mate we might have money in the bank, but if those figures are accurate, we’ve just lost 20million. That’s a * load of money for us, so it’s obviously going to mean we need to prudent with our money! We all want new quality signings, but this whole circumstance has changed the landscape for all teams considerably

Right guys let me try and help here it costs £5m a month to run Celtic wage bill alone that’s the full group every employee from lawwell to the cleaners.

we furloughed every member of non playing staff and topped up their wages by 20% and some are still on furlough so we still aren’t paying the full amount.

Celtic are not immune to this covid situation.

we still need around £88m per season to operate the club.

    before a player is bought!

There’s no doubt we have lost out from last season on the refunds and lost income.

However for this year if they sell out season tickets (which we are told is happening) then that makes up just short of £32m of the £43-44m of our footballing operation income we make in a season. So a £11-12m shortfall, if we get to the CL it is worth an additional £20m to the club over EL last 32. There is no great difference between EL and CL in ticket sales which again lie under football operations so will be at least £6m of the £11-12m of football operations shortfall and that is if we cannot sell any tickets.

Merchandise sales you would have to imagine will be up from the Adidas launch normally worth £18m a season to us. Not to mention every sponsorship deal we have is deemed the highest we have ever had.

I have no doubt we are being impacted badly by this but so too is the rest of football in leagues where they don’t have big TV deals that make up most of their revenue.

I don’t think it will have been a £4-5m per month more than usual on average as June and July would have been months with no revenue generation anyway. Yes the second half of March, April and May would have been bad and players and management did take cuts unlike just deferring. There were also other cost saving measures such as furlough and letting higher earners in Sinclair, Gordon and Simunovic move on.

If there is a transfer budget though it will most likely be funded by player sales with Ntcham, Ajer and Eddy the most likely candidates as all are going in to the last two years of their deals. Pandemic or not we have been operating that way anyway over the last decade.
