    I beg to differ :86:

I think the best thrash comes from USA (Bay Area!!!) and Germany (Sodom/Kreator).
Scandinavia delivers the best black, folk, viking and melodic death metal.

Death Metal... there are quite a few good scandinavian/german death metal bands, but the florida connection (CC, SFU, MA..) is hard to beat :84:

We mustn't forget the "new" Metalcore genre from USA, Killswitch Engage, Trivium... etc.. pretty hot *!

Furthermore Rap, HipHop, jazz I guess etc

The americans win by far buddy!

US all the way. There is very few UK bands I like. Mithras, Sarpanitum. Or Regorge from Glasgow.

The most popular extrem Metal bands comes from US (everything), Sweden (Death Metal) or Norway (Black Metal).

    * comment. Some of them bands you named are fairly recent(say in the last year) so it would be impossible for them to have a second album, whereas Arctic Monkleys, Kaisers, Hard Fi and Kasabian all have more than one album. You have also failed to mention other brittish bands such as The Fratellis, Oasis, Calvin Harris, Biffy Clyro etc etc.

The Killers are my favourite band though so I felt obliged to vote for the USA, if they wern't around then it'd be UK all the way.

US is too hung up on old style macho rock and too keen to worship ancient rock royalty. To many long guitar solos and videos with bleached tarts. UK music is a lot more dynamic. We have a great indie rock scene with roots in our own punk and newave stuff decades ago.

The Killers have a completely British newwave/indie derived sound though!
