Uefa have confirmed a rule change, which will mean all clubs playing in Europe from 2006 will have to include at least 'four' homegrown players in their squads.

would like to same thing in all countries. Scot, English, etc. should have a certain number of homegrowns.but that might run into problems with EU labor laws. rangers have a promising Scot goalkeeper, McGregor, and McL won't even give him a chance!
wasn't there once a rule in UK that only 6 or so foreigners could be on a squad?

According to radio five live only 5 teams would not have met that criteria in the last champions league...

    Celtic,Rangers,Arsenal.Chelsea and Ajax....

so we would be fecked as well....

Would mcgeady count as home grown cos he will play for ROI and Celtic are obviously classed as a scottish team...

duno about mcGeady, dont think so as he is playing for another country even though he is Scottish, i think that will come down to Uefa deciding :39:

This may sound like a good idea but i think there will be a lot of fuss over it. it's okay sitting down in an office thinking these things up but until there actully put into practise you won't now what difficulties will arise.

What happens to smaller clubs in the SPL who bring young players through and if they are any way decent there snapped up by the old firm or EPL clubs.

On the whole it's a good idea but there will be plenty of down sides to it.
