I think we'll be fine. That was last season and we have more this season.

I think we will be fine. We are just begining to reap the benfits of a good solid youth structure having been in place for a few years now. Plus with the new facilities at Lennoxtown and a proven developer of young talent in Park coming on board we will be fine.
The club has clearly stated that it wants to really emphasize developing local talent from within and already the signs look promising.

Football always seems to be excluded from normal laws. ie Celtic not being able to play in the EPL.:38:

We now have a lot of Scottish lads. 3 out of the four defenders for a start then you look at Maloney, Beattie, Riordan, Miller, et al. We would have nothing to worry about.

I am very happy to hear the UEFA stance. I agree with it. To be honest, we have greatly increased our Scottish-developed 1st team squad contingent under WGS (Brown, Marshall, Wilson, Telfer, Elvis, O'Dea (despite being Irish)Mick, Gary, Kenny, JFK, Shaun, Aidan (despite playing for Ireland), Beattie, Deeks etc-maybe even foreigners like Sno would qualify if he stays another couple of years) and also our own club youth policy is the best so we have nothing to fear. Am glad. Not a fan of chequebook managment and should only look wider when a player is really outstanding like Naka, JVOH, Artur etc.

    Why ??
We have the best youth structure in the game the reserves have won their League at a canter as has the U19s for the last 2 or 3 seasons .I think it will be a good idea watch us leave the rest behind then :50:

Lol we're *??? Thta's ridiculous, of the all the teams in the CL, we're probably between the top 3 looking at the number of home grown players we've got in the first team/squad. Beattie, McGeady, Maloney, McManus and that's in the first team only! Do you even know things about Celtic remdawg??? We've been growing great players so frequently in the last few years, and our under 19ies are romping every year and you say we're *????

On another note, I think quite a few teams might have problems with this, Chelsea's youth system is non-existen, Arsenal can only get young players in from Africa/France and Milan and Inter always have an average squad age of 99 so they're "*"

aye 4 out of 25 thats nothing for us, even though soon our first team will have only Wilson as a scot, assuming Maloney leaves and mcgeady will be registered as irish. we have enough young scottish players we can stick in the squad that wont necessarily play.

edit: what am i talking about, mcmanus etc also!!

We're in no way *. How can anyone even think that? Chelsea and Arsenal should start * themselves though.

This plan was revealed by UEFA two years ago, this is old news. Celtic are fully aware of this happening. Dunno why you're panicking at all

I think we would have a better head start than Arsenal,Chelsea Real Madrid.Arsenal don't have an englishmen in there team most games let alone a home grown player

Haha some of the replies to this post we're pathetic, and am naming no names!! :fear:

I think this is a brilliant rule, especially for us. Just look at some of the signings GS has made over the past year and a half - i dare say half if not mainly Scottish players. Plus the guys we've brought through ourselves. Imagine the Scottish game in 20 years time with this rule in place. We will have some amazing young players coming through and gracing our game as the top clubs will put far more effort into making their youngsters into better players.

Nice one, on the Scots :50:

I'm delighted that this kind of ruling is being introduced. A lot of European clubs will struggle with it and hopefully we can capitalise on this. The likes of Arsenal and Chelsea have a lot to think about. Although they need not worry too much as they can attract the best of English talent anyway. And the best of English talent is normally better than what Scottish talent is available.

if in the future as in 2008 eight home grown players are required it still leaves 17 places to be filled by anyone why the negativity:celt_2:
