Out of curiosity, as we have to navigate through 4 preliminary rounds to reach the group stage, how would 3 years of continuous CL football affect our rating? Would we need to do 4 rounds again next season?
I'm unsure if the co-efficient goes by club or nation, but it actually baffles me at how 4 clubs from the major leagues go straight into the group stage.

There are separate coefficients for nation and club. Our club coefficient determines our seeding when we are in a particular round, so our recent form has meant we will be seeded in every round of qualifying assuming we make it through. Unfortunately our seeding is probably not good enough to get us into Pot 3 if we do qualify, unless a bunch of upsets happen in qualifying. If we keep doing well that could change in future seasons.
However, it is the nation coefficient that determines how many rounds of qualifying we go through. We have to get 17th in the nations ranking to get down to having 3 matches instead of 4, we are currently 25th, so unless the other Scottish teams start making it to group stages of the Europa league it seems unlikely that we will get there.Rydᴏ1888, The IRA and aliceinsound like this. -
hibs aberdeen and yes, probably rangers, regularly qualifying for europe will be the way for the coefficent to improve beyond us. aberdeen have generally beaten the teams they should beat and lost to half decent sides, and lennon and gerrard are managers that will take these qualifiers seriously.
