Forrest is a great wee player. However, I think he was given a bit too much pitch time last season early on and I think its taken him a long time to bounce back. I would keep him coming off the bench for the next couple of months. He definately has a future as a top player. Maloney may be done by injuries and Paddy is clearly not rated by a succession of Celtic managers and I dont think he has a future other than some sub appearances. I think Forrest is our only out and out winger with a long term future at Celtic.

On Commons performance today, why not? He was very poor today in my opinion! If it had been someone like Maloney who played as badly today he'd have got pelters but Commons seems to be given the special treatment! He had 3 or 4 great crossing opportunities which were straight into the keepers arms! On a performace as poor as it was, there is no reason why Forrest can't put him out of the team! He was also poor against Hibs!

I know what you are saying, but I think Commons' performance last season has earned him the right to one or two stinkers, although he did create the goal today with sheer determination.

Won't disagree he looks out of sorts so far though.

Forrest is on 18K week on that new improved 5 year contract, obviously rated highly by celtic staff

agree with you mate theres no way commons should be starting on the right side over forrest. Forrest has started the season incredibly well, similar to last season i just hope he can stay healthy this time.

Commons is the best wide MF’er we’ve had at Celtic since Alan Thompson, he gives you everything that posers like McGeady don’t.

Along with Kayal, I would never drop him.

Forrest is a child, who is still developing. A good impact sub, but nothing more.

defo wouldnt say he gets special treatment, people who arent stupid enough to realise that lennys making a stupid decision every time he plays him on the right cut him a bit of slack. just you watch when he gets a few games under his belt at left mid then everyone will be praising him again. you cant play a guy out of position and expect him to produce the same goods, some can but obviously not kris and he shouldnt be asked to.

A lot of false dawns with young players over the years, but I really think this boy is the real mccoy! Hope to see him getting more game time this season.

why are people slatting commons so much, made our goal and made our other best chance when he put forrest through who should have scored. james is more than a prospect he is a 1st team challanger but people need to stop kicking into kris, who i would, like most, rather see on the left hand side.

There is no danger of Forrest knocking Commons out of the first team, absolutely none. Commons will win us the league, if played in his correct position.

Forrest looked sharp when he came on but he still has a bit of developing to do. Commons has had a couple of slack games but he still has that goal threat even when hes not on top form. Commons over forrest for me.

I think he should be starting, he was out of position today as well, he could have been even better than what he was. I know Ledley is a good player but I think Forrest would have offered us a lot more in attack from the start with him down the right and Commons down the left, where's he meant to play.

Commons wasn't on form today yet his determination led to the goal that gave us a vital three points. He's carrying a bit of weight because he's been trying to build his upper body strength so that could also be a factor in his performance today, plus it's early in the season.

No doubt though that wee forrest is one of our most promising players at the moment, I can see him becoming a regular first team starter over the next two seasons if he keeps progressing at this rate.

Forrest looks like he's shed a few pounds over the summer.
Always thought he was a bit chubby but he's looking sharp at the moment.

Don't know about changing the game but what his introduction did do was push stokes to where he should be

Forrest should start over Commons every day of the week at right mid. Commons was easily our worst player on the pitch for 89 minutes today, he redeemed himself with an assist but other than that he was totally useless.

Commons hasn't looked right in pre-season or the first two league games. Maybe just lacking the sharpness that will come with games!

I think what stopped us playing very well was our tactics. Why were we so lopsided? With no Izzy we had nothing down the left.
Mulgrew is a better centre-half than attacking full back, and Commons is being played on the right.
Without Izzy we need someone out on that left wing making runs and space. Lennon tried it with Stokes but he is not a by-line player.
Lennon might need to swap things around as persisting with this could cost us getting into Europe.
