When McCarthy gets up to full speed, I think he and McGregor will almost certainly be our midfield pairing going into most games. That leaves one space left, likely to be occupied by Turnbull or Rogic.
I like Turnbull and think his potential is huge but for me Rogic has been better so far this season and if there's only room for one, Rogic must play. Turnbull might get you more goals but no one can link the play like Rogic can for us. When he's on it, no one else comes close (see his performance vs Betis).
I get we will need to rotate. But with everyone fit, if you had to choose one over the other to start for us, who would it be?

I don’t like this question. Must be how a maw feels when asked what one of the weans are her favouriteSean Daleer likes this. -

Game we play is so hard on a mid 3, be shocked if all stay fit long enough to make it a debate

Turnbull is too inconsistent and hasn't done it in the big games enough yet, imo. Rogic has battered the huns a few times and performed well in Europe too.

If everybody's fit, I don't see McCarthy taking either of their places. He doesn't offer a lot going forward, which the other two do. You could play him deep and push McGregor forward, but he's far less comfortable on the ball as evidenced yesterday. I think Ange will continue playing Callum in that deeper role as it's important to our build-up play.

Rogic definitely as Turnbull has went right off the boil recently

Rogic is technically better but turnbull offers more. His set pieces alone put him in the starting 11 for me, we’ve struggled to have a decent set piece taker for a long time.
However, if we’re playing domestic football I’d rather a 3 of McGregor, turnbull and rogic. -

Rogic all day every day. Especially when played as a natural 10 if McCarthy is behind him. The lad is a genius.

Both bring something different, I think Turnbull is better in deeper role Rogic further forward.

Depends on the opponent.

Interesting times though in midfield once McCarthy is up to speed. He could be just what we need to protect the defence but that would see Ange tweaking his philosophy slightly.
Horses for courses I suppose. -
The big decision will be the like of Huns games and hame Euro games. Will be a nice headache for Ange if all 4 are fit and up to speed, suspect one will always need dropping for rest periods or carrying a knock.Garrymac1888 likes this. -

I'd rate them about the same. Both great skilful players who are capable of making a bit of magic happen, and they're both the first to go for a * break the minute the going gets tough.
Ideally they would both be competing for the same position in the team to allow space for someone with a bit more graft. Either that or sub one off for a defender as soon as we go 2-0 up.Leone Naka Fan likes this.
