King Canute’s real spelling was *, historians over the years changed the name for obvious reasons. Did make me chuckle tbh.

I've never seen it spelt canute, I remember at school learning it as * and my face going red holding in the laughter.

Early payday. Off on my break to buy some clothes, which I only do about once a * year. Always feel brand new afterwards.

I've been researching my family tree since 2009, i've managed to trace the birthplace of most of my Great great Grandparents, all were Irish born, the two Great Grandparents who's birth county i couldn't find were my Dad's grandparents, i know they were living in Bridgeton from various Census returns in the 1800s and early 1900s, the only clue i could find was their entry in the place of birth section as Ireland.
The 1921 Census of Scotland returns were released a couple of weeks ago, these are a lot more detailed than the previous Census returns, so i was able to tie up a lot of loose ends as to where my Dads family originated,
My Great Grandfather, James Doherty's place of birth is listed as County Derry, i've since found his baptism recorded in the Parish of Desert Martin, and his parents place of residence as the townland of Stranagard.
My Great Grandmother, Margaret Gallagher's place of birth is listed as the townland of Cornamucklagh in County Monaghan, i traced Margarets father Daniel and found him living in Cornamucklagh in the 1901 Irish Census, so now i'm happy i've found their birthplace i can concentrate on another branch of the tree.

Now that right there is a beautiful sentiment and moment.

I cry when I hear that song as my dad sang it to me when I was a young whippersnapper.

    Precious times Sir!
