    when passing someone familiar in the street you might say ''Well, what about ya?''. This phrase is used instead of saying 'Hello' (I think its weird to say 'Hello' when passing someone in the street) This phrase, especially when it is clear that you only have 1.5 secs until you've past the person and have no intention of getting into a conversation, is and should remain a RHETORICAL question...

    * drives me nuts when people reply to it with ''grand aye, doing my best, working away, what about yourself...'' when your 25 feet past them!!
