Wouldn’t surprise me to be honest. I’ve seen some devices have chips configured in such a way that they will only run at their most efficient with the oem batteries. Especially stuff that uses rechargeable batteries and in some cases they don’t even accept a new battery even if replaced with an oem one. Planned obsolescence

Getting sent to do the shopping and coming back only to be told that I had forgotten to get something she had asked me to get (even though she clearly didn't) and having to go back out to get it as it was "all my fault for forgetting in the first place" just to avoid any hassle
