Trivial Things That Annoy You Thread

Discussion in 'TalkCeltic Pub' started by Dáibhí, Jul 13, 2014.

  1. I want to go on holiday but the thought of having to fly is seriously putting me off :54:

  2. Eurostar is fun, particularly when it breaks down half way through the tunnel :50:

In all seriousness, that's a shame man, my Mrs is petrified of flying, have you thought about the course where you get a day of class type things with the pilot etc then they take you up on a flight whilst explaining all the noises and bumps etc?

  3. I've flown before,it's just not an experience I enjoy at all.I just drink vodka the whole way to take my mind off it :smiley-laughing002:

Nah man, maybe something like that would be worth considering....unless it's on one of the wee planes that always seem to be crashing into fields..

If I could get a boat everywhere I'd go for that instead.

  4. Fair point.
Although most of the * satins are in HGV's nowadays :icon_mrgreen:

I aint keen on flying either , the key to it is not to let yourself think 'right this plane weighs 50 ton or whatever and yet its flying at 32,000 * feet how the * does that work' - :smiley-laughing002:

  5. Doesn't mean you need to drive like dicks, next lorry that cuts me off without indicating is getting... probably still * all but I'll continue abusingthemfromthe safety of my car:56:

  6. Meant to post my trival irritation as well -

The Prudential, * * they wont let me reduce the on-going charges on a clients investment so they benefit, as the previous IFA was ripping the utter pish out of the clients, * :31:

  7. Get a window seat.Might sound daft, but it is distracting, and you can clearly see what is happening. Its beautiful at times looking out a plane window, whether its the clouds below, or the ever changing land/seascape.
On an aisle seat where most frightened fliers go, the tendency is to sit and think!!!

Get some valium, but dont take them.Just knowing you have them as a crutch can work wonders.Watch the cabin staff......its their job, day in day out, year in year out, and they are usually easy on the eye too!

Yes, have a wee drink, and access to music.

Always remember there are others on board feeling the exact same.

  8. I don't mind flying tbh, although it hurts my * arms.

  9. Can you not get a better deal for your client somewhere else and get them to make a complaint to whichever authority needs to be informed.
It's about time these big organisations are reined in.

  11. With all the technological advancements in recent years, especially with regards to laptops and smart-phones, battery life is still ridiculously weak. I reckon whoever comes up with a hydrogen battery or something similar with power that can last weeks at a time will make a mint. My Iphone battery seems to lose it's charge after 1 day usage; needing to charge it so regularly reduces its mobility somewhat.

  12. You tried putting it on low power mode? Settings > Battery > Low power mode

  13. Cheers :50:

(valium could work, would miss the vod though) :icon_mrgreen:

Listened to David Bowies Greatest Hits last time..

"For here am I sitting in my tin can
    Far above the world
    Planet Earth is blue
And there's nothing I can do"

  14. There is nothing wrong with the investment, the only problem is the ongoing charge the ex IFA was charging 1.5% per annum. Which is shocking. I will do the same work for 0.75 (average going rate) halfing their cost and improving their return and I still would be paid approx. £3700 per annum, as its over half a million they have. Tbf the pru have got back to me and said if I sign a disclaimer they will allow me to refund half the service fee to the client. Although that may * up my tax return so will need to speak to HMRC and check its ok.

  15. All of these devices have these limitations on purpose. Planned Obsolescence - The battery life is kept low so it can be gradually and slowly improved with each new model , giving each new model the selling point of having a better battery life than the last.

  16. No it's not, they've realised phones with massive batteries but * say they're too big and ignore them.

Turn data and stuff off your phone they last for ages as well.

People fail to realise that for every 10% increase in processor speed, graphics etc. they need to double that for the battery life to be maintained at the previous models rate.
People want faster phones, more colours, better graphics, more storage...... failing to realise that if it was PC you were building along the same lines you would be increasing the wattage by 50% to power it every 2 years.

I think they do well to make the battieries smaller, lighter and more efficient while keeping the same performance and life whilst all these increases are met.

I think i read somewhere that they could have a phone to be as fast as a £1200 PC but the battery technology is holding it back - as it would need a battery the size of a margarine tub to power it!

  17. water wings.

  18. Last few months my battery life has fallen off a cliff, phone has gone from lasting 2-3 days on one charge to needing charged by 4pm every day and it only last till then if i turn of data and wifi.

  19. Batteries can only tale so many charges. After a certain while they lose ability to hold a charge.
Get it replaced or get another phone/upgrade.
