    I think that the squad is really adequate, given our finances. We have quality back up for most positions.
    Just need a beast of a defensive midfielder, a loan will do.

    Celtic are open to offers for James McCarthy as they close in on the signing of Oliver Abildgaard.

    As Football Scotland reported this morning, Rubin Kazan midfielder Abildgaard is set to undergo a medical after agreeing a move to the Scottish champions. The Denmark international will join former Rubin teammates Carl Starfelt and Sead Haksabanovic at Parkhead.

    The 26-year-old's imminent arrival will push out-of-favour McCarthy even further down the pecking order and Ange Postecoglou won't stand in the Irishman's way should a club come forward with a loan or permanent proposal.

    Meanwhile injury-plagued winger Mikey Johnston is poised to spend the season elsewhere, with Portugese side Vitoria Guimaraes keen on a loan deal. Youngsters Liam Shaw and Scott Robertson are also free to find new clubs.

    It’ll be hard to complain if not but we’re light up top now. If we managed to bring in a forward it would be the perfect window.

    Why? We only ever play with one up front, we have Kyogo, GG and Maeda for that one position and I have no doubt Abada could do a job there if we were stuck. Our squad is now absolutely massive, another striker would struggle to make our bench
