My da mentioned Akinfenwa last night funnily enough. First time he had ever seen him play and he couldn't believe the size of him:smiley-laughing002:

We need someone in his mould, big, BIG guy who will knock defenders aside. Don't think he himself is the answer mind you.

Funnily enough I actually recently signed Mbokani for us in Fifa and nearly signed Altidore.

Admittedly I don't know too much about either of them, but do I know Mbokani has had quite a few injuries (and sadly lost his child) and that has affected him a bit. I haven't seen anything about him recently so I wouldn't know how he's playing.

Altidore I would actually be quite interested in, he's still quite young and despite not having the best scoring record I think he would be decent for us. I would imagine that he may just be within our price range, although I could see him being a bit more.

Altidore is a big diddy. Hate that type of big clumsy Welbeckesque player.

Altidore's scoring record with AZ is brilliant. Seems he has finally settled in Europe, I don't think he would have a problem adapting to Scotland or our style of play from Holland.

His attitude is excellent aswell. The ref tried to stop a game because Altidore was the target of racial abuse from the opposition fans. Altidore got the game restarted and went on to score, AZ winning 5-0.

Him and Welbeck are completely different players.

Would love Altidore here now that he's (finally) found his feet in Europe. I think it'd take about £5m or more to get him, though.

Doesnt matter if his scoring record in Holland is good. What he makes up for in being big, hardworking and athletic he takes away from by being clumsy, dumb and pish in general.

He's closer to the level of Conor Sammon or John Daly than he is to the level of Vennegoor or Hartson.

Too many people fall into the trap of thinking players are good because they're scoring goals in the Eredivisie... Anthony Stokes and Georgios Samaras would probably bang in 50 between them if they played up front for Heerenveen or AZ. It's a high scoring, open League and players will score goals no matter how bad they are.

he's actually got a reputation of being quite lazy, its one of the main reasons klinsmann keeps him out of the us national team. Personally don't want him anywhere near celtic as i think we could get better strikers much cheaper elsewhere.

Whos was the big, black CB who played against us for Rennes? I want him.

    Big, fast, strong, experienced monster.

    Are you mental?

''Clumsy, dumb and pish in general.'' - Wow, I wonder if these words have ever been used in a scouting report.

I don't know if you have watched him at all in the last two years, but he has grown into a very good player. Remember what league we play in, the SPL, the quality of the league is even worse than the Dutch league. He would tear the SPL a new one. Strong strikers thrive in the SPL, he would be no different.

Said it before but I wouldn't completely trust a striker based on his scoring record in the Dutch league. Every time I see the scores in that league there's always 2 or 3 high scoring games. Don't think they understand the art of defending over there.

True, but it doesn't take away the fact that some of the biggest names in football have made their names in that league and moved on much bigger and better things.

    Kader Mangane?

On loan at sunderland from some UAE team. On about 60k a week. Good player but no chance we could afford him.

Altidore doesn't fall into that category. He's muck.

You're right, a lot of it is hit and miss. You get the odd player like Suarez who works out but then you have Afonso Alves and Graziano Pelle and players like that.

Aye, the technical players, they do well because if you've got good technical ability and develop a few years in a League that will let you use it, you will improve and grow in confidence.

The not very technical players who do well there are still diddys. The likes of your Altidore, Afonso Alves, Bulykin, Pelle and hundreds of others.

Altidore doesnt have the touch, link-up, intelligence, finishing ability or probably mentality to play for Celtic or do well playing against packed defences. We need intelligent players who are good on the ball and have good movement to play up front for us, to occupy and drag around defenders, hold onto the ball and play passes in tight areas.

Oooof, Afonso Alves! Forgot about him!

I just think he isn't getting the credit he deserves after an awful time at Villarreal... that seems to be the only thing people are judging him on.
