Yeah he's a very good player and it's good he can cover at left-back too. But we're also in need of a left winger to compete with Commons as McCourt hasn't been too good of recently and isn't a natural left winger tbh.

I can't see Drenthe having been on too high wages, £30k/week max.

Don't really need him mate. Hooper, Stokes, Watt, Nouioui, Miku. Plenty of strikers for me

Na to be honest i think he only ever had one good season with us the 2 after he seemed to put more weight on and was less mobile + he hasent exactly set the hether alight down south either.

As dose Hopper who scored 20+ goals the season before we bought him and commons who had scored more than 15 from midfield for derby before the switch

True, but according to many sources the lad is trouble and has a serious attitude problem.

Everton loaned him with an option to buy but decided against it as his form was so erratic but his temperment was childlike and harmful to the squad Moyes is building.

NL has already said he is looking for young players with great attitudes who wish to develop and earn transfers to big clubs in bigger leagues. As talented as he is I cannot see us being interested in Drenthe if only for this reason.

Drenthe is a trouble maker, a very talented trouble maker but even David Moyes decided that his talent isn't worth his presence in the squad.

Anyone think Jiloan Hamad would be a good signing.

    Winger (plays on both wings)
    21 years old
    Captained the Swedish U21's
Been capped for the senior team (ones I think)
    Plays for Malmo

    Remember this:

Lennon gave Andre Blackman a contract - and he has certainly been labelled "troublesome".

I think the thing with Drenthe is that a manager for RM (can't remember who) bought loads of Dutch players (Huuntelaar, Van Nistelorooy, Sneijder, Robben) then after he left the new manager decided he didn't want any of them. Rm have been trying to get rid of them all ever since.

It wasn't just the one guy. Capello bought Van Nistlerooy, that German guy bought Robben and Sneijder and Jaude Ramos bought Huntelaar. Also VDV was bought.

But yeah it was a strange policy... although most of them did quite well when they were there besides Robben and Drente who constantly disappointed.

But that is not quite the same situation. Blackman was unproven when he signed - a former teen starlet who failed to realise his potential, was released by Arsenal only to be turned down after trials at teams like Oldham. He will be on absolute peanuts for wages (for a footballer) and has proven he is determined to learn and succeed by going on loan to ICT. And if he falls out of line he will no doubt be dropped/released and it will have little impact on the club.

Drenthe is by far and away a better player would probably be a fantastic player for us. But his wages alone would make him at least one of our top earners and when fantastic managers like Moyes say he is pretty much uncontrollable I think it would be too expensive a risk for NL and Celtic to take. Especially on a player who has proven himself to be exceptionally inconsistant, ranging from complete and utter brilliance to absolutely shocking.

I'm not sure about Drenthe's attitude as I don't really know, but I am making comparisons not in footballing terms, but attitude "problems"

Drenthe no thanks he is a * . What waster has all the talent in the world sadly will never live up to his potential due to his attitude.

Drenthe = party time boy loves the white powder.
