because Trapatonni plays favorites, Doyle doesn't deserve to start.

I've never seen anything to suggest that. Do you watch Ireland?

neither of them is worth half that though. players go for crazy money in England, Is Andy Carroll a 35 million pound striker? Is Jordan Henderson worth 20 million?

Maybe how you judge a good striker but not a good player. Doyles all round game is top notch! If people cant see what he brings to teams them they shouldnt be watching the sport. No doubt all the people that dont rate him just watch highlights of games...

not every game but a decent amount and it seems to me Trapatonni is very slow to embrace new players and likes to stick with his favorites. Keith Andrews is a prime example, he hardly plays and yet still gets called up.

Andrews has played 30 plus games this season....

Trap has alredy brought McClean into the set up.

    Both your points are invalid.

Im not sure if thats true or not, but if it is i think it says more about readings other forwards than doyle, he averaged 14 goals a season at reading which is pretty poor, and in the EPL he musters up a goal every 5 games, which is pathetic despite the higher standard.

His all round game is perfect for Celtic. I am also confident that with the service that gets provided by ourselves he would score around 15-20 a season. For the type of player he is I find that acceptable, he creates far more than he scores.

At centre-half, I'd love to see us go for either Mikel San Jose or Fernando Amorebieta from Athletic Bilbao. Saw them in both legs vs Man United, and the two of them looked v, v solid.

In terms of future potential San Jose would be better (but maybe more costly), but in terms of getting a big, experienced centre-half to marshall the defence, Amorebieta would be great.

Anyway, we probably wouldn't be able to afford either of them after Atheltic's Europa League run.

I don't think we could afford any of Bilbaos players to be honest.

I'd rather have a striker who can actually score goals tbh, thats what they're paid for. Im not even sure he would get 15 a season at celtic, such a poor finisher

I think with his aerial ability and the amount of quality balls we get in the box he would score a bundle. He occupies defences almost single handedly, Gary Hooper would have a field day with the spaces he creates.

So being able to head a ball and drag players out of position are the only things hes good at? Sounds a wee bit like fortune, and he was awful.

Can hold the ball up excellently, his link up play is quality. Brings the midfield into play, would allow us to play more direct at times.

I wish Fortune was still here, he was underated the problem we had that season is we had 2 strikers who enjoyed playing outside the box.

Even at that he scored a few and set up quite a lot as well.

I genuinely feel that is the type of player we are missing.

actually neither of my points are invalid. Andrews has played sparingly this year since his move to West Brom and in years past he has hardly played at all yet he still gets called up and played because Trapatonni likes him. The same can also be said of Glen Whelan in the past. Trapatonni did bring McClean into the euro squad but only after McCarthy was forced to pull out. On this seasons form McClean deserved to be in the squad much more than Duff imo but Duff is one of the old guard so Trapatonni wouldn't leave him.

Anyway this is all rather pointless because inclusion into an international team has next to no bearing on how one would do for Celtic. Personally I think Doyle is one of the most overrated players around and I would be very disappointed if we signed him.

No doubt you would have complained if anyone had suggested we sign Sutton when we did

Fortune was absolutely awful, a truly dreadful player.
