whats the point of putting unrealistic targets on here??
lionel messi or the likes of ross mc cormack who is so similer to what we already have, we need a target man and centre backs

i think we need some proven players ontop of what we have. but we need to spend around 20mill on 4/5 really good players. (i know probs never happen due to wages etc).

for that kinda money could of had:

Shaun Wright phillips
Joey barton (i know a * but still...)
Nolan
Kevin Davis
oshea
wes brown
joe cole on loan

cannt think of anymore but 4 out of them would have strenghtend the team immensly! given experiance and back bone!!

 

None of them will ever come to the SPL plus they're overrated overpriced English players.

 

i reckon you could get davis for <£5m but wages would be an issue

overpriced maybe, but teams like QPR would give us a right humping atm i think. celtic have to stop playing the "were not being bullied on price" card IMO.

yeah maybe they wouldnt, but am sure we didnt think sutty and hartson would either.

i am not saying i would buy those precise players but thats what we should be aiming for.....not taking chance after chance on average players.

as for them being overated Wes brown has been outstanding this season..player of the season so far for sunderland.

SWP has been quality fo QPR this season, caused probles, everytime i have watched the commentators constantly saying "they need to get the ball out to phillips hes runing riot"

o'shea a steadied and experienced utility man!

and i forgot to add clint dempsy on here! how he hasnt been picked up from fulham i never know. hes getting his praises sang on football shows latley maybe he will be away in summer.

apart from izzy, kayal, hooper and brown i would have no problem replacing any members of our current team with the names named.

 

i think were missing a trick with the south american market at the minute, not brazilians or argentinians but the likes of chile, paraguay, uruguay. i mean look at the players who have came to europe lately the oscar cardozos, luis suarez, edinson cavani, its an untapped market, the only stumbling block is the work permit. however if a young player is playing for a country that isnt great and makes a few appearances then it would be easier to gain a permit. this is what we should be aiming for. the days of 6m signings are over in my eyes for celtic til we get out of this league.

 

joe tracey all these players you mention are on upwards of 70 grand, do you want to run our beloved club into the ground? so for an example lets say we signed barton, swp, oshea, one breaks an ankle and the other 2 tear ligaments, what then? they be out injured but continue to pick up these obscene wages? a daft idea in my eyes. in my eyes we should be signing young players, even if were a stepping stone to the premiership but then you can sell on for profit and use the profit to continuously build the team

i think its a fine line betwen our 2 ideas. i defiitly wuldnt want to drive our club into the ground, but lets face it wha were doing at the minte is bringing sweet FA to the table for us.

even young guns are getting their head turned by big money in football now (which i absalutly detest!). for example the young lad fuez who has just fooked us off.

another problem in the footballing sense for bringing in yung players, is that you never have any continuity over long periods of time.....each eason feels like a tranformational season for us.


i mean although not the greatest now but whats wrong with people like duff? they arnt on huge wages!!

 

i think duff would be on bout 50 grand a week and his legs are going, imagine him playing up here at fir park or new douglas park, getting booted all over the pitch, na mate not for me im afraid.

 

Tresor Mputu. Played his first game since his global ban ended and scored. Still playing for TP Mazembe in the Congo so we could easily get him on trial or something.
