Wasn't it due to a work permit that we didn't sign Baba?

CB is an area that is a must and has been for years should have been sorted well before now and it is time that it is.

Assuming we have transfer money available until we see towards the end of December who is fit, who isn't on form who's injured etc anyone's guess who we should go for.

Toss up really between a CB and striker at present but remember we haven't seen what Bangura can bring to the front line yet. Either way we probably will need to strengthen in January I just wonder though how much will be available. My guess would be maybe around £2-3 Million at best.

No way will the board invest on the assumtion of getting CL money that's for sure.

We have Stokes, Hooper,Bangura and Samaras so I don't see the need for another striker. I would far rather spend good money on one really good centre back, but honestly we need TWO.

why isnt rogne playing, is he injured? we still have josh thompson too, but tbh i doubt he is the solution .. not to mention theres wanyama

i would like us to go for baba in january, i think samaras should be for the off, and rasmussen might be away on loan, but i really dont think he is going to get a chance here, which is a shame, because i would prefer him to get a chance than bringing someone else in .. so hopefully the sale of samaras and rasmussen ( if not more - in january ) then we can have some money for a decent defender .... but tbh its probably more than likely we wont buy a defender unless we concede a * load on the run up till then!

    I'm not picky.
Think we have enough attackers in the ranks to be honest and that's not an area we're lacking. We need a really decent central defender and I'd rather we bring in a CD than yet another striker.

    Cillian Sheridan

Just turned on Sky Sports News earlier to see that former Celtic striker Sheridan scored a double today for St Johnstone, as they beat Hearts 2-0.

For anyone unfamiliar with him, he came through our youth system a few years ago and only ever showed brief glimpses of potential, but I reckon that now he has matured more as a player and been around a bit (Hibs, CSKA Sofia and St Johnstone), he could come back and link up well with the likes of Hooper up front. According to his Wikipedia page, he's 6 ft 4 inches tall and would compliment Hooper very well, similar to the way JVOH and wee Skippy linked up during the Strachan era.

So, does anyone else feel that he could be the long anticipated target man that everyone in here wants to see arrive at the club? I know it seems like the cheap option, but there aren't a lot of big strikers out there nowadays within our wage budget and we could easily get Sheridan back in the January transfer window, for a small fee.

    Thoughts?

St J is probably about his level. I hope he does well for them, but he is worse than Murphy.

Was in pub and Sheridan was getting interviewed after the game, didn't hear what he was saying, but was spoting a tash, not sure if it was the telly or my eye's playing tricks but it looked green?

I distinctly remember folk saying that Scott McDonald would never be "Celtic class" (whatever that is) and then when he arrived here, he was firing on all cylinders, scoring against the likes of Man United and AC Milan and getting 31 goals in his first season at the club.

I know Sheridan and McDonald are two totally different players, but it's a good example of how an "SPL standard" player made a name for himself at one of the biggest clubs in the world. I don't see why it couldn't happen again.
