The 4m for Baba

Why didn't we use the 4m for Baba in the last 2 days of the transfer window? We could have gone out and got a really good striker or centre-half for that money.

If we are saving it for Baba in January would you prefer him or a centre-half? If I remember rightly we were trying to bring in Baba AND Bangura in the last couple of days and it would have combined to around 6.2 million I think.

Were we pinning that on Sammy leaving on the last day?

My question is are we going to use it in January because it's obviously there and if we do will Lenny use it for Baba or a centre-half and what would you prefer him to use it for?

 

Is Diawara worth £4m? I thought it was around £2m we were going to be getting him for during the summer, but he couldn't get the necessary paperwork or something?

The DR aren't the most reliable but it looked like most people were saying 4m, he doesn't look worth 4m from his video's though.

He didn't get the right paperwork but that's the only reason it didn't go through.

 

i would have been amazed had we spent 4m on 1 player never mind 6.2 on both of them

my reading of it was that it was one or the other and we probably baulked at the £4m fee

 

I'd probably rather we got the target man than another centre half. We definitely do have problems in the centre of defence, but we've been crying out for a tall striker for months and when Izaguirre returns, Mulgrew will be able to return to CB in a permanent role. It's a shame El-Kad isn't eligible to play in the Europa League, as it means Mulgrew needs to cover for him.

 

He's slower than a week in the jail though. Improvement I suppose..

Not what we are looking for atm. Similar player to Stokes and about the same ability wise.

 

Would love us to sign Baba and another cb, but push came to shove, would have to plump for a decent cb, as feel we've enough goals in this side, but are really struggling defensively.

Aye but I don't think I've ever seen him lose a header, I would accept somebody who could hardly run for aerial dominance and somebody who can bully strikers.

Very strange he has went to Portugal really, not exactly a defender that is suited for that league.

 

Centre half, definitely.

 

Definitely a defender if we have that money.

 

I would have him over what we have every day of the week.

Will be interesting how he copes in Portugal. I think he will struggle tbh.

 

Fair enough. I'd agree we need a centre back (possibly two) in January. Steven Taylor from Newcastle perhaps?

 

You don't think maybe we did spend 2.2 of it on Bangura ?? Personally I dont believe for a second we were ever ganna sign them both.
