Looking at available free agents, I think Flamini would be worth taking on trial with a view to a 1 year deal.

Could solve the CM problem, plenty of experience.

Some really decent names still available also - Martin Caceres, Labyad, Felipe Santana, Junior Hoilett, Sessegnon, Muntari, Jose Enrique, Raul Meireles, Berbatov, Tiendalli to name a few.

Didn't know Junior Hoilett was still a free agent. Crazy he hasn't been picked up yet. I'm dying to see a Canadian wear the green and white. He's a quality player as well, would be an ideal signing for us with Roberts leaving next summer and GMS (most likely) being moved on.

Edit* - His attitude towards the Canadian National team has been questionable and by all accounts he was poor last season with QPR but thats according to their fans, much like Villa's regarding Sinclair. Either way he was once highly rated and is still very young, could use a career rejuvenation. Very pacey and is decent at getting the ball in the box.

 

Momo Sissoko.

Only 31 and a free agent after his wee spell in China. Currently on trial at WBA.

He'd be a good fit for us. Has the physical presence and the experience we need. A 1 year deal would be a good option.

 

Definitely some good midfielders still available for free that could do a job for us for at least this season.

 

I know the transfer window's shut and all that, but I wouldn't mind that Jano Ananidze who plays for Georgia. Always looked a tidy player when I've seen him, today against Austria (scored a screamer) and against Scotland too. Plays for Spartak Moscow, according to transfermarkt his contract expires next year so we could go in for a Bosman in January.

 

Not on a free, but into the last year of his contract at Spartak Moscow. He's another wee guy, but really skillful and quick.

Mentioned earlier, I'd take Dimitar Berbatov here, no question. He'd be a perfect option to get us a crucial goal in a cup game or in Europe. Watched him a couple years ago vs Arsenal with Monaco and he hadn't missed a step. I'd have him over Ciftci off the bench any day. Would keep Dembele from getting content as well.

Another on the free list is Fausto Rossi, who looks like a straight forward central midfielder with decent technique and an eye for a pass. Released by Juventus, where he never made the grade.

Capped 25 times for the Italian Under 21's, so they must've rated him highly.

I'd want a keeper, because i'm worried De Vries is a * keeper. It's all very well saying you're gonna pass the ball back to him, all i'm saying is, good luck with that against Barcelona.

So i'd want a shot stopper as well as someone who likes to spring counter attacks.
