Shane Duffy would be an excellent signing

I think if we could get our two targets for Jan (Elyounoussi and Mocinic) in the summer then we would be set up really well for next season.

    We need another centre half.

Have a bad feeling about Simunovic.

    Boyata, Mulgrew, Sviatchenko, Ambrose, Simunovic.

I think centre half is the one of the last things we'll be looking at, particularly if Mulgrew signs on again - 5 International centre halves.

    Boyata- Not impressed at all

Mulgrew- Will probably leave in the summer, either way I can't see him being our first choice CB, especially not in Europe

Sviatchenko- Looks decent so far, think he'll get even better

    Ambrose- lol

Simunovic- Another who looks decent, his injury problems are a worry though

Even if Efe were to leave we'll have 4 International centre halves and for decent Nations into the bargain. What are people expecting us to carry in an SPFL squad?

Mulgrew has been excellent since going back there, Boyata will get better as will Sviatchenko.

It's Jozo I have the biggest concern with, both in terms of ability and injuries.

We need to trim some of the fat off the squad and maybe add a bit of quality out wide/up front. Perhaps a tougher, more defensive-minded midfielder, too.

4 of them all have question marks above their heads. Sviatchenko is still settling.

Mulgrew and Ambrose could go this summer as well, hoping Ambrose does. Boyata still has a big question mark above his head too, he could get better but it's all ifs buts and maybes right now.

Simunovic hasn't done anything even when fit to suggest that he will be the answer. I'm maybe thinking that's because he's been carrying some form of injury.

Our defence has been our Achilles heel this season and the players haven't been solid enough, regardless of Deila's tactic. We better hope that the same mistakes don't happen again, I wouldn't be adverse to getting rid of a couple of those CB's and bringing in someone else.

We've been leaking goals in games.

In Europe, we've been gifting goals away to anyone who asks.

Defence definitely needs trimmed and new recruits brought in.

If your biggest concern about our defence is Simunovic, I'm concerned about you.

Leaking goals in Europe isn't down to the defenders. We done that with Van Dijk and Denayer, we won't get better than them.

True, but it wasn't the same manner. Ambrose against Fenerbahce still gives me the *.

Would you not want to see any new defenders in the summer with some being shipped out?

I'm happy with the individual defenders that we have. Having Ambrose as an extreme last resort is fine, especially if he's on * all money and happy to sit on the bench. A good manager can set the team up to get the best out of your defence. Lenny got us to the last 16 with Ambrose in the defence.

But lets be honest, everyone fit he's nowhere near the team. I'm happy with Boyata, Mulgrew, Sviatchenko and Simunovic fighting it out for the 2 centre back spots.

What we need to do is protect our defence and not leave ourselves so open to counter attacking, as well as learning how to defend a set piece. We do that, we'll be far more solid.

As would anyone we bring in.

A Danish, a Croatian, a Belgian, a Nigerian and a Scottish Internationalist as your 5 options is more than good enough. The personnel won't get much better unless we strike gold with a VVD. We don't have the money to buy better than the best player (never mind defender) in Denmark, which we've just done.

The only thing Jozo has proven to this point is that he gets injured.

Part of the reason the defence has been poor at times is lack of consistency in personnel. Continually turning over players isn't the answer.

We aren't playing Football Manager, welcome to real life.

Thank you. I've been stuck in this football manager vortex for near gone a century. You've said the magic words and I have been released. My centaur wife and I are eternally grateful.
