Nobody apart from TW and the relevant Managers can really answer that question.

For me it's more that Ronny has made a decision about what he has available, how he wants the Team to play and how he sees TW fitting into that format. Tony strikes me as an old fashioned, heads down and go for goal, striker. On the other hand, from what I've read, Ronny's philosophy seems to be very much Team orientated and 'I'm in charge or else'. So a reported £1.2m plus (I'm assuming) % sell-on fees would seem to be good business for Ronny and the way he wants the Team to play.

could the decision to allow Watt to leave have anything to do with the arrival of the new coach? Does Watt have psychological issues? Wonder why he can't buckle down and follow his star in Parkhead.

If the club just want to sell everyone and buy no one then the crowds at Celtic park are just going to keep dropping

We are turning in to a bit of a joke tbh

I imagine he probably is a wee bit big headed but let's be honest who can blame him? He scored one of the biggest goals in the history of the club at the age of 18 and probably sees and hears about it everywhere he goes with clips of the goal being used to boost ticket sales.

If the claims are true that he is actually a bad influence in the dressing room then it's disappointing but he's probably better off elsewhere. Shame as he is one of our better prospects from the youth development.

Lennon sent him on loan because of his attitude, he then had bust ups with there coach, still shows poor attitude, then id also sell him.

but the circumstances must have been different surely. Was baldes career near the end or his form was dipping etc? I can't remember back then much. And I dont think Ronny would be that spiteful. Who was in charge with bobo? Martin O'Neil ? And what was baldes circumstances?

Balde was still our best defender at this time, He was on a massive wage and that's why Celtic wanted him out. If I remember correctly we hadn't had a clean sheet for about a year then balde played and we kept one and there was uproar! It was Strachan who was manager and I'm positive there was a bust up with lawwell

if it were not for the goal against barca, i doubt he would still have been here, anything over a million pound is good business, saying that there is still a few i would have sold first

Yep he was frozen out by Lawell due to his reported 30k a week wages, while Lawell was wanting to cut the wage bill. He was also colossal in the game vs Man Utd which he was was drafted in late for.

Bobo got a new contract under MON and if you believe online report was on huge wages.
So when MON left and Wgs took over part of his remit was to sell and get rid of the big earners that the club could no longer afford...20 million in debt ect.

Some were sold and some just didn't get offered a new contract when it ran out...sutton was one of those i think.
celtic had a offer or a few offers for bobo and accepted a offer and asked bobo to go have talks with them and the player decided he wanted to stay, some say because he loved it here and some think it was the huge wages....anyway.
Once he refused to move the club/wgs froze him out of the team and he never really got to play again.
I think near the end when we had a few out injured he got one or two games but nothing more.

He has had problems with more than one manager over the years so im guessing there is something in it all.
Would be strange for 3 or 4 managers and youth team coaches to punt him on loan ect if there is nothing it in.

I'd just moved to England after a rough couple of weeks back home when he scored that goal against Barcelona. Irish lad who had never been abroad before, who knew nobody, drinking in a pub when that goal went in. One of the greatest moments of my life. Cheers Tony.

Seems like a reasonable price for a player that was on the fringes of the squad. I understand the split view on here about him leaving, considering some people thought he was the best striker at the club in a recent poll - which is complete *' madness!

Ronny clearly didn't fancy him and I'm hoping he's maybe doing a bit of squad trimming to get some players that he's earmarked in the door.

its hard for anyone to say hes better or worse than anybody, hes scored that goal yes, but hes never done it week in week out at our level, he could leave and never be heard of again, or could go away and it prove us wrong, hope its the later.
