Stokes will be a bench player at most next season, not mobile or quick enough to play the attacking football Ronny wants up front.

Do you think all 11 of his last starting team were really quick?

We're a football team not an Olympic relay team.

Stokes will be a nail on for Ronny's team. One of the best footballers in the squad, one of the most creative, best passers, one of the most skilfull and he guarenteed goal and assists. Nothing about Griffith's is guarenteed I don't think, Watt is in with a shout there.

Finny all these stories say pretty much the same thing, why keep posting them? Not long to go now and we'll see where Tony features in Deila's plans. I hope he is high up in them but on merit only. Your behaviour is obsessive to say the least.

As for Stokes. Do you think Ronny is trawling through last seasons DVD's watching our tactics, players and all our goals and thinking 'hmmm Stokes 20 odd goals but he's *, Commons 30 odd goals but he's *, Brown utter pish, Mulgrew *, I know at least 10 Norwegian schoolboys who are better than this'. If you do you're not all their pal.

I've always said I would play Commons as long as he wasn't playing in the CL proper, I've no problem with him domestically or even in the qualifiers.

However, Stokes, Brown, Mulgrew and Forrest I'd punt at the first club if any come calling for them.

Anyway this is a Watt thread so let's just keep it on topic please instead of you trying to derail it.

That was after the Barca game mate. He didn't play in the 0-0 at Parkhead, but he came on as a sub second last game away in Lisbon.

The game against Barca was his debut in the CL proper, but he also played in the qualifiers against Helsingborg.

That was on topic about a fellow 'striker' who will be battling for a striking position. However since I rate Watt to be about 100x better than Stokes in every sense then there will be no competition for him to claim that no.1 striker role on the pitch. He's going to be the main man on the pitch and currently that will be alongside Griffiths unless we sign another striker to partner Watt.

    * sake, I was sure that was at Parkhead? You sure mate, thought he came on not long after Hooper?

I have a memory of watching him from the stadium :56:

I'm pretty sure he didn't mate. He definitely came on in the game away from home, because I remember him having a shot from long range when he should have passed it. Rogne came on in the 0-0 game as well.

Why alongside Griffiths? From the minute he has arroved Stokes outscored him and out assisted him, what makes you think he is better?

The bit in bold in case you missed it. The other players where mentioned as you state them as additional players to Stokes you'd like to see punted. As for keeping it on topic, go all the way back to the original OP, note the author and you'll see I have no desire to 'derail' this thread.

I just rate Griffiths as a better striker than Stokes, I think he's harder to play against and gives you more work, energy and effort as well as lots of goals domestically and being left footed is another advantage to his game compared with the rest of our 'strikers'.

But basically though, After Tony Watt who I rate extremely highly. Griffiths is the best out of a bad bunch of 'strikers'. If I were Deila I would try and get rid of Stokes, Pukki, Balde, Atajic and I'm not sure about The Fridge yet as we've never seen him play even though Lenny said at the time he signed that he was 'one for the present'. Well if he couldn't get a chance ahead of even Balde or Atajic then there's not much hope for the lad tbh.

After getting rid of a few of these players I would use the wages saved and try and get 4 really decent strikers and that's it. So Watt, Griffiths and two other strikers. Similar to what Fenerbache have atm but on a smaller scale player wise obviously because they've a lot more money than us to spend.

I actually agree with most of that post Finny, in terms of ideal solution - with exception of Stokes who year in year out proves he is a very valuable player in many ways in domestic fitba.

Will actually be interested to see what Deila think of / can do with those other guys this season, however. As I suspect he'll be stuck with the majority of them.

Getting rid or cutting back on most of the players who have contributed to our success over the last few years in one go is * suicide.

If we can get players who are better and eventually replace them then fine, but there are far more players needing the door before Stokes, Forrest, Commons, Mulgrew and Brown.

If nothing else that would cause dressing room revolt and any halfway intelligent manager will be aware of that.
