Great news indeed. Hope the decent players see what potential this team has if they stay together.

    Exciting times.

Delighted to see he's signed a new deal. By 2016 he could be one of the best strikers in Britain.

i can see tony being here for his entire career, he seems like the most loyal player at the club since larsson.. loves us to bits and i'm sure won't care about a pay rise else where

If he turns out to be the best thing since Larsson and we give him the wage he deserves i.e. about £35k or so then I reckon he'd stay with us rather than going to Man United or a club like that for £70k or £80k a week.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves though. Would be interesting to know how much he's on now after his new deal. I reckon it's £4k or £5k a week.

I don't think anyone would turn down 70k a week and the chance to play for Manchester united, fan or no fan.

Call me a liar but I would rather be a hero and a legend at Celtic on £35k a week than be a 'good' player at United on 70k.

It's all just hypothetical mate. I just getting a feeling from him that he loves the club and isn't motivated solely by money.

    Wages were just here-say, hypothetical.

If you were referring to his new deal, I just took a stab in the dark and guessed he was on £4k or £5k now after his new deal. Maybe it's a good bit less or a good bit more than that.

It's easy enough to say you'd stay at celtic, but if you were actually in the situation where united offered you that amount of money it would be totally different, and if you took it that doesn't make you solely driven by money, playing for a team like Manchester united is what any ambitious footballer would want. Also I think if you're good enough to be a Celtic legend you should be good enough to be a Manchester united legend, depends what you'd consider it takes to become a legend at a club. Henrik larsson definitely would have been a legend at united had he been with them for years.

It's all hypotheticals and opinions. No real point in arguing about it. Henrik Larsson is a one of a kind. I'd expect Watt to move on (if he did in fact become a brilliant footballer, our best since Larsson let's say) when he got to about 26 or so. Stayed long enough to have established himself as a legend, left early enough to win a few major medals such as a Champions League.

All I was really saying to begin with was that I don't think he's the kind of guy who would want to move to a big English club as soon as he got the chance. I just get that vibe from him.

wit? if i had the chance to become a celtic legend no amount of money from any club could persuade me to leave... i * love this club and to even imagine being thought of in the same light as henrik larsson ect.. would be priceless. loyalty is not dead, which i think watt will prove in the years to come.

    Everyday of the week!!

It's not like you are not on comfortable wages when playing for Celtic. If you are a fan, you are living the dream. Why go anywhere else?
