Tomoki Iwata

Was listening to a J League podcast from a few months back (Sam Robson being a guest on it) and they were talking about the team of the year. They couldn't speak highly enough of Iwata.

Can drop between defence and midfield without losing a step. Protects the defence really well and can start attacks from just about anywhere on the pitch.

 

Been doing a bit research on him for a couple of days now and he genuinely does seem like a quality * player, still cannot believe we've got this guy for as cheap as we have. Make no mistake he's coming here to be a regular.

Presses well, Knows Ange's system, rapid pace, according to data he's supposedly fitter than Daizan, always seems in the right place, tackler, Hatate's technical skills and he's a wee tank. Only downside is maybe his height and going off some of the videos his passes can be a bit hit or miss sometimes because of his directness (similar to Reo) but that's me being picky. All that is very rare in a defensive midfielder. I'm buzzing for this just hope he lives up to the hype
