Tomoki Iwata

  1. He was awful but it's not his position so can't be too harsh.

This shoehorning of him must stop, he is not capable of filling in at RB or CB.

Pointless playing him at right back, his confidence has been dropping since he was put in to cover centre back end of last season. He needs games in the midfield.

  4. Aye mate that's what I read before..

Sums up pretty much how I feel about him that second part :50:

Really feel for Iwata and not sure what the clubs plans are for him.
Despite playing well in the centre of midfield whenever he has played last season, he now seems behind Kwon in the pecking order, who for me hasnt really shown more than Iwata in his short time at the club.

I cant see him featuring much.

Actually thought he mite of started today given it was such a tricky away game against a very physical side so fact he didn't even get on doesn't look great for him.

If he's not fancied then we badly need to go and sign a defensive midfielder b4 the window shuts

  7. Aye it doesn't look good for him..

If Hatate is out for a number of games might actually get a game in midfield.

  9. He should have been on after the first half.

Aye what's the point of buying players and not playing them in their position

Kwon wasn't even on the bench today, that's hardly above Iwata in the team.

Iwata may struggle from being a utility player in getting played in his preferred position but he'll have an important part to play this season

In the games they played by Kwon, Tomoki has been played at right back. Yes, we were struggling at right back but it doesnt look like the plan is to use Tomoki at centre mid at all.

One of them has to go out on loan.

Played at RB because we had no RB fit, without seeing what's happening team shape wise we won't know though.

They both have CDM as the main focus so unlikely for both to get significant game time in that position unless there's changes in the team composition or injuries though

This boy was the MVP in Japan as a holding midfield player. He must be worth a few games over the course of the season. We may have a star on our hands, or a dud but he needs a chance.

If he's good enough he'll get a chance. Clearly Holm is showing up better than him in training.

I don't think either of them do. I think its clear that the pecking order for those 3 positions at the moment is:

    McGregor
    O'Riley
    Hatate
    Turnbull
    Holm
    Iwata
    Kwon

In that rough order. Iwata is needed for cover and Kwon could do with 6 months in the Celtic environment

Holm done well but there may have been a slight stroke of luck in him getting on ahead of Iwata 2day.

Hatates injury happened so fast and just so happened to be while Holm was out warming up while Iwata was sitting on the bench. So Holm was probably more prepared to go on at short notice.

Regardless Holm took the chance and probably is now ahead of Iwata.

I wonder why Holm was out warming up and Iwata wasn’t.
