    Most of his poor games last season came when he was shoe-horned in at CB, no chance he plays there this season imo.

    As others have said, he has ways to go before becoming a starter for us, but he's a talanted player who cost less than £1 million, it's good business by us either way.

    He can easily be the physical centre mid we need but also has the technical ability. Quite excited to see more of him this season. There was a few games last season when he came on and mid an immediate impact.

    I think iwata could be one of the players that improves most under BR. He loves an out and out DM and thats Iwatas game. Plus he is an absolute tank.

    Glad he’s no went back up the road, think he’ll prove a lot of people wrong this season.

    At this point I’d even have him as an option at centre half over Yuki, I know neither covered themselves in glory there but at least Iwata is a brick * house and has shown more ability on the ball as well.

    I think there is a lot more to come from Iwata. I always got the impression he was playing within himself last year and wasn’t quite on the same wavelength as his team mates.

    It will be interesting to see what role he plays when the season starts. It will also probably depend on transfers in and out in midfield.

    He was lapping the field in the running drills on the training videos :giggle1: One of his biggest strengths seems to be his athleticism but we didn't seem to utilise that at all when he played last year, hopefully Rodgers can find a position to get the most out of him.

    He had just came off a full season in Japan Rodgers plays 4-2-3-1 predominantly sitting in the base of midfield with a full pre season I have hopes for him still to make it here
