You know what mate... Football back in the day was different. OF players were friends off the pitch and enemies on it.

It wouldn't surprise me if the majority are a bit older, who know respect and remember the old days.

The generations after it really * it. Not completely but you know what I mean.

Hats off to them, I say.

My step grandad (hearts fan) told me the other night that he'd go to Easter road to watch us play Hibs. He took some stick but gave his reasons: "it's the European champions. Why wouldn't I want to watch them?"

If they're my grandad's age, I honestly believe they mean it.

TOMMY GEMMELL, who passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 73, will make his final bow at Celtic Park on Friday.

The Lisbon Lion’s funeral procession will leave Parkhead at 11.30am on its way to Daldowie Crematorium in Uddingston.

A family friend said: “It was one of Tommy’s final wishes to go back to Celtic Park one last time.

“It is a marvellous gesture from Celtic Football Club and greatly appreciated by his wife Mary, family and friends.”

A huge turn-out is expected for one of the club’s most popular players.

European Cup-winning team-mate Bertie Auld, 78, said: “Parkhead was always Big Tommy’s spiritual home.

“He was a Celtic man through and through.

“The club and the supporters meant everything to him.

“It is fitting he will get this last opportunity to go to the stadium where he gave so many people so much pleasure.”

IT was with real sadness that Celtic announced the passing of Celtic legend, Tommy Gemmell last week.

Tommy was one of Celtic’s greatest servants, a Lisbon Lion and a man who will forever be held in the highest regard by everyone connected to the club.

Tommy’s funeral will be held at Daldowie Crematorium on Friday at 12 noon.

Prior to that, supporters will also have an opportunity to pay their respects as, fittingly, the funeral cortege will leave Celtic Park at 11:30am and travel down the Celtic Way, then on to London Road towards Daldowie Crematorium.

Tommy’s family kindly thank everyone for all the support they have already received.

The Celtic Family has lost one of its greatest sons and our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Tommy’s family.

BR: "But also be a celebration of an incredible man and footballer, a member of the Celtic family who will never be forgotten."

I hope we win at the weekend in Tommy's memory with a thunderbolt strike from Tierney.

If you are coming to Celtic Park tomorrow to pay respect to Tommy Gemmell please try to arrive around 11am

Tommy's funeral procession will travel down the Celtic Way around 1130 & onto the crematorium.

The crematorium have made a stream available for fans to watch Tommy's service & we will host this on our You Tube channel from 12 tomorrow.
