Tommy Conway may have played his last game for Bristol City as the club are open to listen to offers for the striker, with their patience having been worn thin over his unwillingness to sign a new contract.
Bristol Live understands that while Conway is not on the transfer list as such, the reality within Ashton Gate now is that the 21-year-old will have to be sold in this window, otherwise he’ll run the remaining 12 months of his contract down and leave on a free next summer.
That would net the Robins a reasonable compensation payment, likely to approach seven figures, but it would pale in comparison to any fee they receive this summer, plus is only on the provisor he remains in England.
With interest in Scotland from Celtic and Rangers, the risk of him leaving for Celtic Park or Ibrox next year would only net the club the mandatory £300,000 compensation. As was the case for Charlton Athletic when Joe Aribo signed for Rangers in 2019 despite being wanted by clubs in the EFL
Interest has been building in Conway over the season, partly driven by his contract and his status as a value signing, with Wolves and Leicester City among the Premier League clubs who have kept a constant check on his development.
Those suitors could, of course, increase in number over the coming weeks as Conway prepares to participate in Euro 2024 as arguably Scotland’s most exciting attacking talent and a strong run of performances in Germany, should he get on the field, will significantly boost his reputation and value

Just a reminder before anyone says anything about homegrown, he does not count as Scottish home-grown

The "old firm" pish is long standing tradition with non EPL players for agents looking to drum up the price.

I think he'd be very good up here to be honest.

Watched his YT when he was called up for Dykes last week. He looks alright, better in the air than you’d expect and linked up extremely well with Weimann.
Still, unless it’s buttons it wouldn’t excite me. -

Rangers and Celtic will both make offers for Scotland Euro 2024 star Tommy Conway - if he runs down the final 12 months of his Bristol City contract.
The 21-year-old, who is currently with Steve Clarke’s national team preparing for Friday’s opener against Germany, is going into the final year at Ashton Gate and talks over an extension have failed to come to fruition. Rangers and Celtic can sign Conway on a pre-contract in the new year and the English Championship would lose him for cross-border compensation for as little as £300,000. Both Glasgow giants are aware of the player’s situation and are both monitoring the situation very closely
A move to Scotland would be City’s worst nightmare because if they were to sell him in England they would be able to demand a significant seven figure fee. It would to challenge for silverware and to play in Europe is also something that the Scotland new boy, who made his international debut against Finland on Friday, would consider
Bristol’s best hope is that Conway does well at the Euros and they may be able to cash this summer rather than let his contract run down. Conway is represented by the Unique Sports Group, who have shown in the past that the cross border switch is one that can benefit their clients.
The same group moved current Fulham star Calvin Bassey to Rangers from Leicester in a knockdown deal in 2020 and then sold him to Ajax for more than £20 million. Rangers have also infuriated the likes of Charlton Athletic when they signed Joe Aribo in a similar cross border deal. They also signed young striker Zak Lovelace from Millwall after his contract expired. -

Imagine they’ll punt him for as much cash as they can in this case, he’ll go for £6M+.
