No i mean i think it's unfair to make an assessment of a player that is basically purely based on playing him in a position he has never played before.I don't get it i know he hasn't set the place alight but he has not been a total disaster and it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world imo if he were to be given another season.He is a proven internationalist and was fairly successful at Birmingham.some good matches at Chelski and fantastic for CSKA.now maybe it's a case that the SPL does nae suit him
but it's hard to judge without a run in the position that he prefers

Ok, jarosik has been played all over the show, do dont judge him until he has a regular place in his natural position.

Great combination no defensive midfielder. Played awesome with exception of hearts. Then "lennon" came on and cost us the game

 

right first of all... us in europe without a holding midfielder? its laughable! far better teams and us need one! AC Milan have one, and lenon is very good at what he does just cause he isn ot a fancy player dont under estimate him, and with that formation with petrov in the middle before me what has petrov doen against the likes of the big teams in the EPL. we need players to defend to break up attacks and then attack thats when we can win in the big leagues against the likes of dunfermline fair enouh hes not needed but against the man u'sd ac milans and the chelseas hes our best player... as well as boruc

 

Lennon is a holding midfielder. But he brings nothing of the sort to our team. He cant break up attacks with the exception of ours

 

I dont know what the percentage is but some want Lennon to go and I am one of them, some want him to stay, but what boggles me is there is at least one Tic fan in this forum says he should be POTY, now if that aint a mystery I dont know what is?

PS. Lennon is not a holding midfielder, he is a HOLDUP midfielder!

 

Christ, he's a defensive midfielder or a reverse sweeper he's not a * holding midfielder and never will be.

He has two jobs - control the space between defence and midfield.

Always be available for a pass.

He carries them both out beautifully. If you think there's no room in the team for a player like this and you want your precious "holding midfielder" (think Hargreaves for England or Carrick for Man U if it helps you) that's fine, that's one thing, but please stop saying Lennon doesn't do his job. He does it admirably.

 

but all the top team have holding midfielders who are also outstanding footballers. some of them could play anywhere on the park but lennon is not a good footballer hes always been average at best. we all know why some like him so much and it's not for footballing reasons. its ridiculous to suggest he should be player of the year. lets face it hes done, now can some of us just move on and accept that there is life after lennon just as there was when MON left.

 

Good post, some people should join a football team and play that position for just one game. every player has his mission, his duty, and some on this forum just don't know what exactly his duty is.

 

The thing about lenny is he WAS a good palyer and good at his posiotion all he can do now is really show for a pass his age has caught and got rid of his pace so it hard for him to break up play since the start of the year he realy hasnt been able to cope with the play and his time is surly up

 

That looked a great midfield until Hearts showed up JJ's serious problem handling high temp football. I thought Lenny was finished then. Remember Lenny went knocking WGS's door about his future. Broken dream though-two have moved on, one is not up to the job and Aidan still has a lot to learn. I dont personally think we need an out and out defensive midfielder in the SPL but we do in Europe. I have high hopes for Sno cause in flashes he has shown much more attacking ability, range of passing etc than Lenny.

In what must be one of the stupidest articles ever written some clown in the Herald is linking Lenny with the six counties job.
Aye those lads would love to have him as the manager.....

 

Don't really care where Lenny goes as long as he goes. Been a great servant and I thank him for all he's done but the time is right, we need someone more dynamic in the midfield.

 

18-legend. Neil lennon is celtic to the core the guy has gave everything for the club in the last 6 years. he has faced allsorts of abuse and death threats from terrorist organisations all just to play for celtic bigger men would have walked away by now. he took it all in his stride and never once let it affect his game or his place in the team. Yes the end is nearing but he can still do a job for us and no one will know more than him when it's time to call it a day.

 

i hope he stays...we * need him!
even if he is used sparingly as was lubo in his last season,he is the only character at our club who others can look to for inspiration 'never say die' win at all cost attitude! because he loves this club and is a supporter not an employee.
we need some true celtic men at this club.
plus if sno is lennys long term replacement then he should learn from him next year as there is no better to learn from to be a defensive midfielder... unappreciated but a massive contribution to celtics success since he has been here!


in fact...keep him on in a coaching capacity...good man!
