Of course not. You take the goals. Up front is the only position where a player can be lazy (wingers can be lazy without the ball granted but tend to be lively when we have posession) because if he scores goals who is going to complain ? Goals win games.

You might want to look up some threads from the last season, Hartson was being bitchslapped in some of them :56:

we need a goalscorer and miller is definetley not one and neither is magic providing we need to sign a goalscorer before milan or we will not progress

I can believe it. I love that complaint you sometimes hear about a particular player "All he does is score goals"

    As if it's a problem ?

The funnier thing was that people thought that Zurawski was a hard worker because they saw how lazy Hartson was. Now a hard worker is put beside him and Zurawski is called lazy

they'v only started 4 games together FFS!!!!!! it's hardly as if they were given a run together. 2 of the games were back to back in september and the other 2 came in november. so not really much chance to build up a partnership. btw the team scored 9 goals in those 4 with 3 of them coming from the strikers.

zurawski is * hopless. if your not playing well the very least i expect to see from someone picking up 10+k/week is them running around bursting their balls for the team.

When Zurawaski is in the team...it is like playing with ten freaking men..
I would take Hartson back in a shot...and his 20+ goals each year..
Neither Miller or Zurawaski cut the mustard....they both fire blanks...and the opposing defenses do not fear them.....and neither will ever get in the Hall of Fame like BBJ and Henrik.....and the bottom line is,
we can't afford it any longer...we have just scraped through many of our
games this season, by a single goal....luck dozen't hold forever..

Strachan realised Miller's lack of scoring goals and non-existence finishing skills. He has not played very much lately and I don't think it was because he was has been injured.
let's face the facts, magic ain't grand at the moment, but Miller's even worse. If magic won't find his form, both need to be replaced this summer.

i think a lot of people took the big man and his goals for granted.

WGS wants; 1) a big powerful target man
    2) a striker that can actually score goals
    3) someone with experience
    4) someone that will have an influence in the dressing room
    5) someone that is not UCL cup tied
    6) and preferably someone cheap

    * geoff horsfield. he wasnt good enough for us when he was in his prime never mind now. BRING BACK BIG BAD JOHN NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sure - I understand the sentiment, but BJH is yesterdays news and good luck to him... what we realise is JVOH is the new target man... its getting the right mix up front, that appears to be the big experiment at the moment, remember JVOH has missed a load of games through injury.

its not sentiment. its logic! why the * sign a dud like horsfield when we could bring back a proven goal scorer and a guy who was a hero. horsfield wasn't good enough for sheff utd so was sent to leads on loan he was then so bad they sent him back a month early. LEEDS FFS!!!!

yeah Jan's the target man but WGS is on record saying he needs back up. who better than BBJ?

Now take it here... I am not slagging BJH here , only looking at facts....Probably coz WGS realised that were better getting him off the big wage bill as he was declining in performance, I dont see anyone in England lining up for him at the mo.... we havent signed Horsfield at the present, and if we did he maybe 15K per week cheaper that BJH and WGS thinks he may be able to do a comparable job... IMO

John Hartson isnt coming back, move on! I would sell Zurawski and Miller and buy another top class finisher. We have Beattie and Riordan there as back-up to them.

doubt if hartson would come back on anywhere near the money he was on. was talk few weeks ago bout him wanting to go to swansea - hardly likely to get 28k/week there.

as iv said horsfield was sent back from poxy leeds a month early he was that bad and sheffield utd are hardly blessed with goal scorers either and they cant get rid of him quick enough. he was not celtic class in his prime and sure as * isnt now.
i was furious when we signed dublin last year - horsfield would be 10 times worse. heaven for bid, what if Jan got injured before milan game, imagine geoff * horsfield up front in champions league last 16. uefa would kick us out before the game for disgracing there competition lol

If we could sell them and Beattie stayed injury free what you describe above is the best case scenario for me too.

only problem is i am more likely to get a game up front than riordan. WGS just doesnt see him as a striker - * knows why because he's better than miller, zurawski and beattie :31:

I see Riordon as an attacking midfielder...
