    Jol rejects Keane's Celtic link

Martin Jol has warned Celtic off a January transfer window move for Robbie Keane after the striker inspired Tottenham to victory over Newcastle. The Spurs boss was adamant that he would not be selling the striker, despite reported links with Celtic.
"People in London realise that Robbie Keane would be too expensive for a Scottish club," he said.
"Jokes aside, he is just as important for us as Mido and Jermain Defoe. They are all important to us."
Keane, who captained Spurs in the absence of the injured Ledley King, faces strong competiton for places at White Hart Lane.
And reports suggest that Celtic's capture of former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane would help persuade his Republic of Ireland namesake join him at the Scottish Premier League leaders.
Keane, Spurs' vice-captain, has previously also been linked with interest from Everton.
But Tottenham have a two-year option to extend his contract, which expires next summer, and look set to take it up.
Jol offered the striker a bear-hug when he was substituted with 10 minutes left, accompanied by a rousing reception from the White Hart Lane crowd.

Martin Jol is a sly *. Jol prefers Defoe and Mido up front, he's only starting Keane over the last month to keep him happy and if he didn't Keane would be looking for another club in January making it easy for Celtic to get him. The fact that he's saving Spur's blushes every week is a credit to the player and his professionalism.

I think even £6M would be worth it for Robbie Keane, a proven Goalscorer and match winner. I hope GS and Lawwell make a move for him.

Easy for Celtic to get him? I'm not sure about that.
Jol doesn't want to let Keano go, Everything i've heard from Keano suggests he doesn't want to go, the club don't need to let him go. If, however, he did become available Celtic would face some pretty stiff competition from Premier League sides.

I know its not a popular view but i think he's probably too young & ambitious to play in Scotland yet.

Also where would Celtic get £6m from?

I dont know if i would be ready for another Keano.... it would just be confusing! (HARHAR) but no i think this is a bit of shoe string story. Speculation and nothing more. Need to look the the back anyway we have enough to be getting on with upfront.

    Oh the rangers are shite
This Spurs Coach Jol is a cheeky * for saying that Celtic are below Keane does he not realise who the * he's talking about?, we were the first British team to win the European Cup, we get 60,000 at home even for * games many nuetral journalists say we have the best support in the world and we've done more in Europe in the last 5 years than Spurs have done in the last 50, he should watch his cheeky mouth thick *. I'll be watchin him.

You misread my post, I said if Jol didnt start Keane over the past month, he would be looking to leave, he's happy now because he's being started but Jol is only starting him now to keep him happy until the January window closes, it will be surprise surprise, Keane's on the bench come 1st Feb.

If Robbie Keane said "I want to join Celtic" tomorrow morning, you'd see how quickly Celtic can pull £6M out of their hat. We are not 5 minutes from bankruptcy

Personally I can't see it happening. We already have 5 strikers who are all worthy of the first team. Can't see us getting more than £1m for Sutton and perhaps slightly more for Hartson. Actually its hard to say but £3m for the pair would be alright. I can tell you there is NO chance of Thompson going to Spurs what with them having the most Midfielders in any team ever :p

Thompson will go sooner or later, if he knows he's going to be leaving, he'll have to work his * off when he does get the opportunity in the first 11, so as to put himself in the shop window, so when he can leave, he gets a move to a good team. We do have some good strikers, and unless some were to leave Celtic, I can't see Keane coming to Celtic. The priority should lie with getting Defenders in.
