im in two minds about the samaras quote....

lennon must be on his last straw with sammy and is throwing the gauntlet at him to produce the goods that he is capable of )new year old firm game),sammy seems to have a great attitude,i imagine in training he is always keen and banging on the managers door for games .....but seems to never deliver the goods which must frustrate lennon as much as us and this is in my eyes is lennons saying its your last chance,as much as samaras does my nut in,he has such a great potential to be good for us

on the other hand i am also totallu confused about this quote, why did he have to say it in public ifront of the supporters and the board? it sounds like he is under from a lot of pressure from the board and the supporters,he seems to be carrying a heavy burden to do the job

It was a stupid quote to make. All it did was put pressure on himself, pressure on Samaras (who shouldnt be playing anyway) and give the media a reason to plaster another Samaras is * story all over their papers. I appreciate Lennons honesty but I dont think he is cut out for public/press speaking. Should have known better in my opinion.

    Our current mission:
*sigh* The only thing lacking from that is to add, 'And sell them for a profit'. Not that I'm totally opposed this being a focus of the board's -- it needs to be. I just wish it wasn't such a high priority. A mixture of potentially good (profitable) players, plus some real winners should be our main objective.

Neil simply hopes winning will rub off on them and turn them into real champions.

We all thought last season was bad. Welcome to the new and improved * year.

The Celtic board seem inadequate, impotent, or indifferent to act, or react, to anything that happens. Whether in crisis or triviality.

This is going to be painful and I don't know what to do. I love Celtic, but I feel myself turning away from the stands and from the TV.

I won't be watching the Uefa games, because I can't justify a ticket to France and it's just to much of a joke to keep paying for Sky Sports and ESPN in these tough times. I go to many home games, I just buy a ticket for the ones I want, but I go to many. I'm not feeling it this year. It's expensive and when your not hyped for any game and are instead worried, it's hard to shell out the cash. And I am lucky and fortunate enough to be in a position to afford the already high prices.

To pay to go see your club, or take on subscriptions for expensive TV channels, you do it with the idea of getting something back. I don't think I've been given anything back in the last 3, and a bit, years. I've paid for the lot, the TV and game tickets. It's the reason fans have started to dessert the stands. In the old days, it was cheap as chips and kids got lifted over. Bigger guys usually had a wee guy squeeze through with them. It's the main reason stands where full during Rangers 9iaR. Only paying patrons now and the payment is strangely high for the quality on show.

The Board have been taking the fans faith for granted, now we will show our real strength when are treated this way. We don't show up, it's begun already and is steadily increasing.

This is not about singing when your winning. It's about being up to the mark. We only have to keep a level playing field with one team and that team has been on it's knee's. The board have to do something to set down our own marker.

I see exactly where you are coming from Ninja, its not been acceptable recently, even though the past few years haven't been the greatest i still do find real enjoyment when celtic are going to play.

Of course nowadays i am a bit nervous because recently celtic have been off-form to say the least. The board while they have been good in one category they have seriously let down the fans on the park as well as ticket prices going to games, the AGM was again a bit of a disgrace and the board seem to like to hide behind the manager when things aren't going well and then suddenly resurface when its time to reveal the balance sheet or when celtic are in a cup final.

Its not good enough, the fans have shown loyalty and ambition by matching the increasing prices year in year out, its time the board repaid that loyalty and match the fans ambition with their own, they need to stop using the SPL as an excuse and get on with more important matters about how to improve on the pitch.

This summed up my own view pretty much 100%, particularly the bit in bold.

I will always support celtic - it is in the blood. But to go the games every week is a huge investment. Not so much a money issue for me but a time issue, and I cant really justify to myself giving up so much time in life to watch a team that is just in gradual decline. Maybe I am just getting older, or maybe it is just the boredom that comes with the SPL but as much as I go to every home game at the moment I cant go anymore after xmas and I dont think I will miss it all that much.

Mad respect goes to the guys who make the atmosphere week in week out, but the board is taking every one of us for fools. They are charging premium prices for a sub-premium product and I am not just talking about season ticket prices, but the various share issues in the past, pre season tours, etc, etc. They have made it very clear they will not support spending yet they seem to assume that fans will continue to turn up each week to watch a team made up of free transfers and cheapest options possible. The extent to which our fans support the club deserves more. Many people do not have a lot of money at the moment and I suspect many pay more than they probably should to supoprt celtic.

For me the board have to decide what the clubs ambition is. If we are a Scottish club, with no European ambition, then lower ticket prices, let kids in for next to nothing, bring through Scottish talent and fill the stadium through fair pricing. It may mean we will not win much for a while but we will be watching a grass roots club for a fair price.

Or if we are a massive club with European ambition and a global brand then keep prices high, but invest some money into the team to bring a bit of pride back to the club. You may not be able to buy success but you can buy a team to be proud of and players people get excited about seeing. At the moment we are paying premium prices, getting sold a story of a massive club, and watching a team of freebies failing against the likes of Killie and St Johnstone. If it continues, fans will stop showing up and the club will continue to decline
