Some amount of money they are splashing about. If I was Real Madrid id pull out of the Bale deal to make them * it and sign Suarez instead and then go back in for him in January for about £20million less.

Man U are my English team but I'd love for spurs to win the league, I really like AVB and have a soft spot for the club and I also really like the team they have built, It would be great to get a new winner of the league and a genuine top club in England fighting for titles

    Eriksen as well?

    * *, Spurs are going to have one of the best squads in Europe:smiley-laughing002:

Wish they would stop just signing midfielders and go for a defender or two and another striker.

They don't need the Bale money for what they are doing. They had allowed to spend almost £100m as a promise to AVB (and Bale) that they would go for the title, and had multiple targets lined up well in advance for that purpose. Baldini coming on board etc.

£25m (and counting) "deadwood" sales this season
£30m extra TV revenue allowed for.
    £20m? surplus from previous seasons

Possible £50m released from the parent company to fund AVBs ambition and loyalty in turning down PSG.

Spurs hold all the cards in the Bale transfer. Even if he stays, and sell again at even £20m less, the extra exposure Levy has brought on the Bale (and Spurs) brand would easily account for any theoretical price drop in the long term. Why would the price drop though? Again, Spurs hold all the cards.

Lawell and Levy must be two of the shrewdest operators in football.

Think he'll be a great signing for Chelsea, better than Torres anyway.

Admittedly, I've not seen him since he went to Anzhi so I'm not sure how quick he is these days but he's a top class finisher.

Strange signing, very short term. They need a proper replacement for Drogba who can lead the line and score goals for the next 5-7 years.

Lukaku looks set to grow into that role, at the moment Jose doesn't have much faith in Torres and Ba and I don't blame hi;, Eto'o is an eminently sensible short term stopgap.

Zero risk financially, fairly good chance of reward, there isn't anything strange about it.

Yeah, just thought it was strange as he's getting on these days. Although after losing out on Falcao and Cavani, their options were limited.
