I can't defend results under Mowbray but the mess he inherited from wgs was unreal. Coupled with that the fact he had to weed out the moles and jokers inside the club, he was always * in the wind!! Ronny inherited a championship winning team who qualified for CL as a matter of course and has made a howling * of it since! As someone said earlier...a Celtic team playing 2 holding midfielders and 1 striker in Scotland is a criminal offence that should be punished with the sack!

Mowbray and Deila have same style. Talk a good game, awful managers.

Its bad when fans are saying to you leaving the ground yesterday, they hope we lost so Ronny would get the bullet. This is stage we're at.

Strachan inherited a mess, Mowbray inherited a mess, Lennon inherited a mess...... Ronny inherited world superstars ready for European domination that he ruined.

WGS and Mowbray didn't inherit a mess.

    Lenny certainly did.

I know right?, we keep hearing about how Ronnie was set-up perfect and that the first CL quals was his to lose. That's pish, I don't blame him for that first seasons failure, he was dumped in the deep end on that season, tbf.

Im 32 mate so remember most of the 90's & wee bits of the late 80's although not much. Some of the players/results were absolutely honking. Alot lot worse than now. The day we won that Scottish Cup against Airdrie & big Pierre scored I could barely watch the end of the game, i felt so sick as we all craved a trophy so much. The moment McStay lifted that trophy as captain was one of the best feelings i can ever remember as a young celtic fan back then. Fast forward to today and its no wonder some people have a different perspective on our achievements/expectations if they grew up in the O'Neill era.

Deila got a side that made it to the CL and was a game away for a whole donestic league season unbeaten.

    Look how thats worked out.

Exactly, you made a * of it thanks for admitting that :50:

Now back to the main point i actually agree with smada, And i am 31 years old a don,t see any positives this whole year, the management are inept to change the formation, too many players played out of position and better players like stokes not getting used at all.

Its poor poor management a would not go as far as saying he was as bad as barnes but a think his and mowbray,s teams would beat the current side, they had to compete with a strong rangers side and were under massive pressure, deila does not have the same pressure as there not here.

Deila talks a good game but his team are just not delivering performances on the park, aye he,s a nicee guy and i bought into his ideas last year but this year has been a complete farce. He,s had 2 years in the job and that more than enough time to put a decent side together and deliver better than there producing.

I remember the 90's but this not mean I will accept mediocrity today. Do we have to look to our lowest ebb and rejoice because we are marginally better at the moment. Bad and all as the board are now a days they are streets ahead of the pre McCann era.

Yeah, and a completely new management team, just in the door didn't factor into that opinion at all.

I'm sorry mate but Ronny had the players more than capable of beating mediocre teams in Europe in his 1st season, all he had to do was make few subtle changes yet he failed miserably not once but twice in same season!! The last euro campaign is not even worth talking about. We have some good players who are being wasted either by playing in wrong position or being coached the wrong way.

I'd * love to have the quality of Cadete, Di Canio, Andy Thom and Big Pierre in our squad just now.

Not to mention Henrik and Lubo signed in the 90's.

    It does.

However given the comparisons with the past, from Lennon to Deila is like going from O'Neill to a management team of Maccari and Barnes.

It's the lack of progress that I have the problem with. If I thought we were getting better I would be happy. After the defeat to Malmo I will still happy to stick with Ronnie and let him prove his worth in the EL. In my eyes he failed and the next opportunity for him to prove his worth in Europe will be next year CL qualifications.

Would love to have just 1 of any of them players in the current side, no creativity or pace in the side at all, am just thinking there a think i have been on here happy with about 3 performances all season for playing that amount of games that shows just how gash we are/have sunk.

Definitely, thats when things started to improve. When McCann came in & Burns brought these guys in. Prior to that 3rd & 4th place finishes & players like Tony Cascarino were the norm. We still never wrestled the title away either with the first crop of players you talk about mind.

Fair do's. I think its all been said before. There was those that were against Ronny from day one & slowly but surely more people have tired of him & I can definitely see why. My patience is certainly wearing thin but my gut tell's me there's something worth sticking by him for. Time will tell mate.

You'd need to be nuts to think Tommy's team wouldn't murder this league as it currently is though. There's no longer a team of Gascoigne's, Laudrup's and Albertz' to contend with.

As bad as we were, we can't attract the quality that we had in those times either. Even early 90's, would love to have players like McStay and Collins. Pity the rest of the team around them were utter dross right enough:smiley-laughing002:

Not having the likes of Gazza and Laudrup to play against doesn't make things easier, it actually, sooner rather than later, makes it more difficult. Competativeness is the life blood of any sport, never mind just football.
