Do you disagree with Griffiths himself then, considering Dev (\o/) has simply re-iterated what Leigh himself said about Deila's challenge to him?

We had Guidetti at the start of last season scoring for fun. Ronny challenged Leigh to get back into the side and he did just that

I dont think he should have been playing with the youths last year. And mind there was talk of Hibs wanting him on loan before Xmas. I dont think he did anything to deserve this treatment. I think he was just that good that he forced the manager to change his initial assessment. I dont think this is a badge of honour for Ronny tbh. We are very lucky our handling of this situation ended up well.

    Griffiths think it is.

Ronny's handling of him was absolutely perfect and we are reaping the rewards of that just now. There's no doubt in that whatsoever.

For someone who claims to want Ronny to succeed here, you really don't like giving credit to him, even when leigh himself acknowledges
Ronny's handling of the situation was good for him.

It's too general to be dismissed, though. Griffiths is the most spectacular example (and fair play to the lead for that), but there's been real improvement in other players too. He did the same at Stromsgodset. It's really what he excels at.

I'm not in the mood for getting it from all angles here again but just remember that he was doing the business for us long before the manager thought he was a right winger.

He's still improving now, long after what og1 is complaining about. I honestly never thought him capable of some of what he is adding to his game now.

I don't think so. I can't see his value diminishing during the CL group campaign and could have possibly risen with good displays.

In all probability though he would have went after the groups for exactly what he did this window.

There's always the possibility that if even the people who agree with most of what you say about Ronny disagree with you about his developing players, you could, you know, just possibly be wrong about this.

Just throwing that out there as a possibility.

As for Griffiths already doing the business for us, he was scoring goals, I'll give him that; he was also doing my nut in because so many of our moves broke down with him and his failure to hold the ball up or bring others into play.

I suppose the fact that Griff responded to the fact that he was in the youth team last year for some reason gives the possibility that there could be a middle ground in this case. I am not wrong though to say that he should not have been in the youth team. He is the best striker in Scotland and just remember it was debatable too when he played with Hibs, player of the year and 30 odd goals. Cmon lads.

He's the best striker in Scotland now; I'm not convinced he was this time last year TBH. If even he said it worked, then it worked, why use that against Ronny?

There is a case that he was the best striker in Scotland when he won player of the year. The award is for literally being the best player in the league. I probably wouldnt park my car in that garage though. I'm just saying that I didnt agree with how we used him at the time and looking back I dont think it was right now.

Fair point, mate. The only thing I would say is that I imagine his role for Hibs involved the strengths he's always had: getting on the defender's shoulder, making clever runs, scoring goals. That's not enough to be a Celtic striker, mate. We play either against packed defences with everyone behind the ball domestically or much better, smarter, faster defenders in Europe.

And no way was he better than the likes of Wanyama that year.

Naw definitely not and just expanding on my point earlier I think that the decision to play him with the development squad could easily have created a situation where he left the club. In the end it worked out for all parties thank *.
