That has been worrying me for a while. Reminds me of Arsene Wenger.

Not really because if he left it could be the bigger pay check or due to constraints imposed on celtic due to the league / cash. The opportunities as a manager vs a player will be completely different

As the manager he would have more money to progress the team and believe he could make them great whereas van dijk should be considering his career as 1 player wouldnt be able to change a team

Stressing that van dijk can and should be playing at the highest level rather than cashing in and fighting relegation

I don't like Wenger so I've consoled myself with the fact Pep Guardiola is the exact same.

We don't have the luxury of having the best players in the world to see you through though.

I don't agree lads. Any examples of such times?

He trusts his system, ok. However, every system will have its blips. Ronny would be a bigger fool to jump ship as soon as things weren't going rosey.

Besides, he has toyed around with two up top on occasion.

I'm talking more during a game, he will mostly keep to the same method of attack instead of trying something different. We lack a plan B at times.

I think his plan b is literally just substitutions. Having a different style of player but in the same formation.

Take Guidetti (and maybe this year Ciftci) and Griffiths, two completely different strikers in their style. Against Inter we had Griffiths pressing their defence, putting them under pressure, tiring them, keeping them on their toes trying to play offside trap - then 70 minutes in Guidetti comes on. Same formation, just a player who has strength that can link up and find openings to shoot.

Just as much tactical awareness in things like this. It's not a dramatic overhaul of tactics mid-match, but can be equally as effective.

Hugh Keevins talks some amount of *. He started off last season by saying the job was too big for Ronny Deila after Legia Warsaw then he was singing Ronny Deila's praises by the end of the season and telling the world he'd got it all wrong. Now he's saying Ronny will be under pressure if we don't get through this tie tonight. Make yer mind up ya clown!

If we go out tonight it will be a bitter blow but I don't believe Ronny Deila will be under any pressure or will have to, as Keevins said, 'win the Treble'. I certainly won't be shouting for his head if things don't work out tonight anyway.

I agree there, he has been talking about variety to play. A lot of the times that isn't good enough though. I don't like having too much faith in a system, there's always another system that can exploit it's weaknesses.

At times yes. But, for example, remember when we lost at Tannadice last year? We brought Leigh on and went 2 up front iirc. It worked too, we would have got a draw if Scep wasn't wrongly called offside.

Disclaimer: it's very possible that I've mixed up about three different matches into one here :smiley-laughing002:

The one that sticks out the most to me was Kilmarnock at Celtic Park for Leigh's hat trick.

He needs to do that more often, he done it 2/3 times last year and it mostly worked. It can be devastating in the league.

Agreed. That also gives Stokes a bigger role to play. Stiffiths can be deadly as *.

Someone said Ronny had an altercation with Quarabag's assistant. True?

He just got in the way during the fist pumps.

The tactics were rock solid today. A long, long way from last August.
