Who can blame him? Being paid to play football and live in LA? Sounds ideal to me.

Well, the first sign that the 2015 season is getting close arrives tomorrow with the SuperDraft in Philadelphia.

My team Toronto has three first round picks (6th, 9th & 11th), two second round picks (29th & 37th), and three further picks in the third and fourth rounds.

Anyone planning on watching it live? Or will it just be me sitting up to all hours like a sad *?

On another note, it looks as though we'll be signing Jozy Altidore in exchange for Jermain DeFoe, with some cash coming our way as well (unless MLS * things up with the allocations order bullshit, of couse).

    Probably. :smiley-laughing002:

As with NHL I also follow Toronto after Vancouver, hopefully Altidore works out better than Defoe did. I kind of had the feeling all along that Defoe wasn't really settled in Toronto for whatever reason. It almost seemed like he was homesick or that he just didn't feel comfortable in North America. I remember when Raptors were playing Brooklyn in the playoffs they had Defoe, Gilberto and Bradley do some commentary and Defoe just looked uncomfortable in his skin.

Have you seen that Youtube show that Toronto did covering all of last season? All For One it was called?

If not, check it out. It features Defoe in the first episode when he signed, then the next three episodes covered pre-season and he was nowhere to be seen.

I think a lot of the foreign players simply either don't take it seriously, or their heart isn't in it. All this training in your home country during pre-season, playing in England until June like Lampard is and so on doesn't work.

Defoe was that kind of player I think.

    * him, Jozy will do much better! :smiley-laughing002:

Actually kinda stoked for the MLS season. Each year the league seems to grow up a bit and is easier to take interest in.

They're owned by MLSE which is the same company that owns the Leafs and Raptors and is a $1B+ company basically owned by the telecom giants in Canada. They're one of if not the biggest sporting companies in North America and essentially have bottomless pockets.

If there is a season hopefully DC United can get a treble.

I would have to think that's pretty massive for MLS.

With the new MLS season just around the corner I am hearing the league could be in danger of running into a major speed bump in the form of a player strike. That would be a real shame if it comes to pass. But the players are certainly pushing back strongly against the single entity structure which they feel is no longer needed.

The MLS definitely needs to adopt the traditional league structure at point, the owners probably don't think that time is now. It would be a massive blow if there was a lockout considering the momentum the league has been gathering of late.

I agree things need to change. I feel it would be better if it was set up like the NHL with a much higher salary cap and open free agency instead of a very low wage cap, a billion terms like Generation Adidas, DP and so on. If it was still a franchise system with teams controlling things more than the league MLS could improve big time.

What * me off is that all the teams individual online stores are shut down in favor of some cheap league based shop.
