It's not easy to be a consistent goal threat from centre mid, especially when he has never had a run of games in the one position.

That being said he has been a goal threat, particularly in the big games, since he joined Celtic. Loved a goal against the manks as well.

I'm not really a big Joe Ledley fan, but I thought he had a really good game today, with some great decisive, forward passes (particularly for Hooper's goal).

And I believe he is now on 4 in 4. Which is a great goal threat for a midfielder.

Best player on the park yesterday IMO. Hope we get his contract renewed as soon as possible. Shouldn't be a problem I wouldn't think, he seems very keen to stay.

He's a very consistent player, so much so that he sometimes goes unnoticed in games because you don't need to worry about his performance because you know he gives it 100% and very seldom makes the wrong choice.

    Joe Ledleys contract

I was reading in the sun today that Ledleys contract is up at the end of next season !! I understand we can't give players contracts years in advance , but why when the guys expressed a desire to stay and is part of the main body of our team do we wait so long till the point the vultures start circling and there heads end up being messed up with agents filling them with ideas. I just see it happening with hooper etc but only because we left it late , we knew last season we wanted hooper to stay and he would have most certainly penned an improved deal before the lure of epl became a reality . What do yous think??

It depends on what what the manager or board are thinking. They will have to offer him a signing bonus maybe or a wage increase maybe?so i think if you say his contract is up next season this summer would be the right time to extend him.If it's a player you really rate as a manager i wouldn't leave it till 1 year left but with the drop in revenue we must be having(half empty stadium yesterday)there must be things to think about for lennon.
You think he's a keeper then aye?

Joe Ledley is one of the most important players in our squad. If he signs a new contract that will be great news.

Agreed, it's all well and good to have players who can perform against Barcelona, but we're unique in that it's an equal commodity to have guys like Ledley who you know will be consistent league-winners in their time here. He's one of the guys who gets us to that stage consistently.

Only reservations the board probably has about Ledley is that he's one of our highest paid players as it is, since he got a massive deal due to the free transfer nature of his arrival, so there's not much wiggle room for the board there to go much higher than his current wages.

I completely agree. Ledley is absolutely vital for us. It will be massive if he signs a new contract extension with us. He is one of the bed rocks that this current team is built on for me.

I doubt Joe would be looking for much, if any, more.

He could have went and had a relegation battle in the EPL at the time he signed for us for a lot more money and chose the glory.

His love for the club has only strengthened since then.

I really think he wants to become a club legend. Get him signed up Peter!

I think he would be justified in asking for more dosh, if not in a minimum wage then certainly in bonuses. The guy has been arguably our highest consistent performer since he arrived. Doesn't look out of place against Barcelona or Dundee, need to keep him around for as long as possible.

Another decent performance so far and unlucky with that shot. I would say that him, Mulgrew and Wanyama have been our best players.
