The Joe Ledley Thread

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Liam Scales, Dec 26, 2011.

  1. Consistently average aye, you got that right.

  2. Kayal offers so much more imo. Ledley was absolutely awful yesterday, how he lasted the entire game is a mystery. Him and Sammy were doing my head in. Kayal needs to be given a run in the team but don`t know whether that will happen as Ledley is one of Lenny`s favourites

  3. Agreed. Kayal is head and shoulders above Mr Invisible Ledley.
It is not right Lennon has favorites in the team, that is not conducive to good team spirit and harmony.I remember Lenny used to play that useless Ki all the time and it also cost us dearly over a period time. This favoritism has to stop.

Also didnt help that their midfielder (number 24 I think) was kicking him everytime he got near him

  5. Ledley was pish yesterday but had very good games against Hearts and Dundee Utd in my opinion. He was better than Wanyama yesterday, but then he never tried a leg all game.

His season has been very stop start, I don't think dropping him would do any good tbh. Kayal has also played more games than Ledley.

Another thing about Kayal that nobody picks up is his inability to play 90 minutes. He never finishes a game, he always gets subbed around the 60 minute mark.

Jeezo, and people have the cheek to slate others when they post negative things about Sammy. How come all of a sudden he is average or not deserving of a start?

He didn't play very well yesterday, but him and Brown were the best of a bad lot. He has been superb recently, obviously he has missed games due to injury but when he's played he's consistently performed at a good level.

Always has to be a scapegoat I suppose.

  7. I think Kayal can last 90 minutes fine. Lenny just never gives him it, I think the treatment of Kayal has been shocking, he was one of our best players over December and into January, id say our best player in that period yet kept getting subbed and then hes been binned to the bench as soon as Ledleys came back rather than Ledley eased back in - in rotational subs for Kayal, Brown and Wanyama over a few games then maybe rotated in Kayals just been put out again.

  8. On the Kayal thing. I think Lenny is terrified to be overly reliant on him again; when he gets a run of games he is overly relied on... then he gets injured and we have a bad slump in form.

By his standards he is not having the best of times at the minute.

Needs to buck his ideas up, he is not exempt from criticism despite being almost robotic in turning in quality performances in the big games up until recently.

  10. I prefer Ledley over Kayal. Ledley keeps the ball better than him, has a better eye for a pass, better going forward, he's also more consistant than him. If it was down to me I'd have Ledley over Kayal.

That's not to say Kayal isn't a good player, I rate him highly aswell, but he's definately 4th in the pecking order at this moment in time

  11. He's started 16 games since season and lasted 90 minutes only 6 times. And only 7 times in his last 20 starts. I love Kayal and think he's a great player but I see this as an inability to complete 90 minutes and it's a bit concerning.

  12. No, this is what is nonsense. He can do no wrong in the eyes of some sections of the support and has been average all season.

As I've said before, I rate Joe Ledley but his season hasn't got going at all.

  13. The two games previous to that he was superb and was very, very unlucky not to score a few goals. He's played a good few games in Europe brilliantly, his performances in the qualifiers was one of the main reasons we were in the Champions League in the first place.

Inbetween then he has been very much blighted by injury; he is consistant enough for Celtic fans to give him time to get back going (like we should).

Other than that people do talk a load of * about him. The 'invisible' tag; I quite frankly find hysterical. As I did when people claimed Neil Lennon, and Paul Lambert before him, were 'invisible' on the pitch. They must have missed some of his big goals then eh?

  14. Of course he deserves time to get back on form but Wanyama (yesterday aside) and Brown have been excellent this season while Kayal's form over the Christmas period was very impressive and all three should be ahead of him for now based on form.

He hasnt been average, he has been consistently good and sometimes very good. The fact that this is probably the first time this season we've had a thread slating him proves how consistently good he is. How many games do you walk away from thinking "Ledley was awful today"?

No way should Kayal be ahead of Joe in my eyes. Kayal has been very inconsistent lately, and for all the fans that talk about scoring from midfield, this guy takes so many poor shots. He gives the ball away far too often lately. Joe hasn't been on top form, but when he's on top form Kayal can't get a game.

Joe was different class today. Possibly the best he has played for Celtic:50:

2 goals, one was a cracker, and a beautiful assist for Hooper's goal. A real captains performance.

well impressed with joe today .

  19. He was amazing today.

Arguably one of his best performances in the two and a half seasons that he's been here.
