Felt like this thread was long overdue:icon_mrgreen:

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is coming out next weeks ladies and gentlemen. With the success of 'The Lord of The Rings' trilogy, I have really high hopes for this.

Really can't wait as LOTR are my favourite films ever:icon_mrgreen:

    So, who's excited?

That trailer doesnt get me excited and neither does the fact that its a trilogy, this has the potential to be bad, and im a massive LOTR fan.

Is this going to be based on any books by Tolkien like LOTR?

If not, I can see it being a major flop without the magic of J.R.R Tolkien.

Strangely enough it is based on the hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien.

Yeah it's based on the books:50:

Based on his books and Peter Jackson the main man again, can only see it being amazing.

It's based on the book by the same name. I love LOTR but i don't feel the same level of excitment for this, probably due to it being set before the films we have already seen and we all know how it's going to end. I'm still going to see it though.

LOTR's are also my favourite films, don't see why they have to break it into 3 parts though?

    Money, simple.

It's a ridiculously short book that is aimed at children (even more so than LOTR's), and Jackson is basically blowing it out of proportion.

How can you make a trilogy out of a small book and make each film good?

It's not just following the book, it's a true sequel to Lord of the Rings.

The Necromancer/Sauron arc is in it.

By adding in your own material. They will stay true to the books but add in more of their own ideas. If the films are good and the main theme is the same as the book then there is no problem at all.
