They do the same with the youths , the club know their best position but try them out on other ones , they do it to cover injuries Etc.

I was kind of hoping today we'd see a bit more of a spirited display now that Deila has put the uncertainty to bed, and due to the fact that we were baws against Rangers.

But nope, usual *. There has to be a major clearout this summer.

This. I think we should be actively trying to punt the majority.

Agree about Gordon. He can't be on much either and would be an excellent back up if we go for an improvement.

realistically how much are our players worth?

I think a major overhaul is needed in the summer.

    In my opinion.

Out - Biton, Johansen, Stokes, Ambrose, Cifti, Scepovic, Commons ( coaching setup ) Forrest, Izzi, GMS, Blackett ( rel ) Cole - Hopefully getting 10-12mill for all players. Free up about 100,000 a week?

In - Right back, Left Back, Centre half, centre mid, striker, pacey winger

Of course this will depend on how much the scrimpers in the boardroom want to spend on a. A manager and b. The playing squad

Many want a clearout however I don't think we will see it. As has been said, depending on who comes in, there are capable players in this squad, certainly domestically. A combination of bad management and poor attitude has taken over lately however and we aren't seeing their true selves. If we can get someone like Moyes, Lennon even Steve Clarke then I'm almost certain we will see some different players.

Contrary to popular demand I'd keep Biton and Johansen in my squad, however if bids were to come in for either and the money was going back into the squad, I'd sell.

Ones in Italics in here as well I'd begin to use more sparingly. i.e. ease out the squad and look to replace. Janko if he is ever fit should begin to be played at RB.

I'd loan out Christie, Allan and send Henderson down south this time. In fact, I'd send all down south. Rather than to another SPL side. Christie in particular needs game time as I think he could grow into a real player but he's being wasted currently.

The next gaffer may not favour the same formation as Ronny, especially if it's Lennon or Moyes, so I'd like us to play a 4-3-1-2 alot of the time. It can help us make use of the abundance of central players we have. Where Roberts fits into that though, is the problem. I believe he can operate behind the striker. That can easily switch into a 4-4-2 as well or even a 4-3-3.

I've got 19 players there if my maths is correct. I'd like a 23 man squad so that allows room for 4 quality additions. By quality I mean guys around or slightly above the level of Sviatchenko. Breaking into their international fold and who have experience of winning things in their respective league, whether it be Poland, Croatia, Israel..wherever.

The positions of those 4 would be, for me:

    ST
    CB
    RW/LW
    DM(by that I mean a proper brick shithouse, Wanyama-esque)

If we can do all of that, alongside a competent manager, I believe we will be on track.

If any current celtic player gets interviewed and says that Sevco are a new club then keep them.
Any new manager has to say that too.:icon_mrgreen:

Someone quoted on here we had used 34 players this year, Ranieri used 20 at Leicester.

Id be surprised if RD could even remember all the names.

Completely agree. Would still mean a decent clear out but one that is necessary. Blackett (wasted loan), Izaguirre (who I wouldn't be against keeping as cover), Ambrose, CKR, GMS, Forrest, Cole, Boyata and Rogic (who I would keep ahead of McGregor) all shown the door is still a pretty sizeable clear out. Our squad is heavily bloated though. Especially after Ronny saying he wanted a squad of 23, I think, but then seemed to throw everything at the wall to see what stuck.

Imo Christie, Allan and Henderson still have the potential to make it so I'd send them out on loan too. They would appeal to most spl clubs but should probably be looking at the English championship. Regular game time is a must though. No point sending them where they'll just be sitting on the bench so may be forced to keep then in the league...

Those 4 signings are gonna cost a bit. We'd need to spend £10m plus which is doable if we're to get rid of dead weight and it's reinvested with whatever the new manager would be given.

This . :50: I have been to every home game this season and seen good bits in all of them .
Ronnies biggest fault is his inability to change things , team selection , tactics and subs . All three are always wrong .
Obviously the likes of Cole, cifti , johansen , forrest have to go but some you want rid of should be given another chance under a football manager , not a nice guy .
Armstrong ,played out of position since he came .
Brown , not fit , a yard of the pace since his injury
Defence , never had a settled pairing all season .
Christie and Allan, never got a chance .
Roberts , mazy runs , but no one to pass to at the end ( one up front)
GMS, Rogic, Bitton, henderson, stokes , Lustig, and a few others are all decent players who have more to offer for a better manager .
The must keeps would be , Gordon, cviatchenco, Tierney, Griffiths,

Just classic Celtic "too much deadwood". Even the squad we have should be walking this league and beatimg the likes of Malmo to make CL groups. Like Paul67 says, don't need a big clear-out really.

The ones I truly feel are finished: Ambrose, GMS, Blackett, Cole, Forrest, Commons

The ones I'd be open to moving on: Scott Brown, Ciftci, Scepovic, Kazim-Richards

Was tempted to add Stokes to the list but he should be our automatic backup striker. Utterly proven to be able to score regularly under a competent manager.

First out the door should be the gang of three who weren't being professional. Stokes, Commons and mulgrew.

Slash and burn... i reckon we could comfortably shed a team and a half from the squad and be fine. Also reckon that if we dud and brought in 5 good players we'd be in great shape.

I'd add a lb, rb, dm, lw/rw and striker. I reckon we could get all for about £15m. Even with losses on the dross we should still break even

£10-15m is needed IMO aye. I'm sure Lennon spent around £12m or so in his first window altogether, alot of that funded by McGeady mind.

However if we shift some of the ones not needed, including their wages we should make a decent amount.

Then it's up to the tight arsed board to make up the deficit. Now is the time to see if they really are taking notice.

Wonder if anyone would be in favour of selling Griffiths, if we could get an eight figure fee for him after his goals this season.

Then use that money to invest in a quality striker who can help us into the CL group stages.

Sell a 38 goal striker? Are you * MENTAL?

THIS ARGUMENT about Leigh not being able to cut it in Europe --- how about we wait till we have a decent manager who has us playing decent stuff in Europe. Something we haven't had lately, before we make these claims that the Griffinator aint up to it in Europa.

Depending if Bitton and/or Johansen certain players get sold i'd be surprised if we even make £5mill in sales in the summer window as I can't see many senior players being shown the door.

Like I said in a previous post here, I think under the right manager this team has a great core and could work really well.

However if hypothetically I could pick and choose who I could sell and how much for I would go for:

    Bitton - £5mill

Johansen - £4mill (gonna cheat and say punt in winter window)

Forrest - £3mill decent sum for a player who hasn't lived up to their potential and is just too injury prone

    Cole - just release

Commons - take up player/coach role

Scepovic - £1.5 mill? I think we can get that

CKR - £1.5 (another cheat, but see how he goes and maybe punt in winter window)

    Blackett - send back

Lustig - £1mill-£2mill love ya buddy but your legs are gone

Ambrose - either just release or give away to the highest bidder £500k

Then players like Cifti, Stokes, Boyata, Bailly, Roberts and few others can be given until the winter window to show their worth under a new manager before either being sold or have their loan terminated,

So in an idealistic world if say the board give the new manager a budget of £8mill + 50% of players sales which in my world be an extra £5.5mill i'd go for.

Fred Friday - £4mill? - he could be great competition and a massive coup.

And then another CB, RB and possibly 1 midfielder, Friday is all I can think off but in that hypothetical situation we should be a comfortable place to shed a bit of weight while bringing in 2-3 quality additions.
