I don't like stone island but I wear alot of Fred Perry, Lyle and Scott etc, kind of 'mod casual' if you want to call it that. At the end of the day I just like the way it looks. Most important thing.

Stone Island gear, despite being the most expensive, looks the chavviest out of the lot for me. Those bright orange jackets which set you back about 600 quid look like a * bin bag:56:

All the wee * who wear the stone island jackets etc to games annoy me. You can tell they just do it to look hard, not because they necessarily suit the style(because they don't). Just asking for slap half the time.

Couple year ago I was desperate for a Stone island jacket but now no chance. I'd rather have a good barbour. The skyfall James bond one is a cracker, 400 big ones though.

People dont look hard cause the type of clothes they wear, no matter what theyre wearing. People look hard when they are well built, most guys who wear that style of clothes are generally wee skinny guys - the exact opposite of hard looking lol

An old mate of.mine (hun *) is into stone island and all the other chavvy *. Hes on one or more of they chav forums must have added about a hundred people off of them on facebook. And all i get on my news feed is him posting or commenting on pictures of these stupid lookin * jackets. Basically that brand has been hijacked by people (mostly wee fannies) who want to try n look hard.

You know what I mean though, in their head they have this idea of being better than you and a bit of a 'nutter' because they wear Stone Island, just because it has this relation to casuals and fighting.

Ofcourse a 5ft nothing skinny * wearing a Stone Island is not going to look hard compared to a 6ft plus brick shithouse wearing a 2 quid primark t-shirt.

I have a few stoney jumpers and that but the jackets are horrendous. I've seen them in Cruise and one of them was 1000 quid+ and it looked like it was rust or sparks or something on it.

I like Polo and Barbour jackets. The James Bond one above is a topper!

I've never heard of any of these brands but a quick google search yields a "meh" from myself.

They do a lot of nice clothes and granted some *. There jackets are what they are famous for though. To compare a ma strum jacket to a good quality stone island jacket is laughable. I have 2 jackets one for the winter and one that's not as heavy for when it's not that cold. There jumpers aren't worth the money if say from personel experience but jacket wise they are spot on. Paul and shark do good quality jumpers that last. I've had some around 3 to 4 years and they still look fine.

90% of the people I see in Stone Island at the football are 14-15 year old scrawny kids who think they're 'hools'.

Generally I think it's worn by idiots, not that great quality, really expensive and draws the wrong type of attention (as OP mentioned)

I do have an Aquascutum scarf though which I really like.

For jackets I like Fjallraven, Patagonia and Barbour

Hijacked by little poofs who seem to save what must.be there last pennies for one outfit as the same little * have never got them off..

Never really liked stone island, especially the jackets with the i'm hard in a police escort with the elbows out so you see the badge..

Most people going for the casual look now were never casuals, which is easy to confuse..

Some smart bits about in ellesse etc but sparingly, i don't do the look at me makes myself or ones you'd see as i don't and nobody should want to draw the attention it gets..
The uber adidas/NB's, ellesse/fila, stone island look with dodge aquascutum scarf and matching cap makes me cringe and is 15 year late..

I've no idea how it's still cool in some quarters, some of the gear I see folk wearing is getting on for a quarter of a century Agos design, after all this stuff started appearing on the terraces in the early 90s, it looked ok then but now there is something "wannabe" about the whole label, much of it is fake in any case.

Moncler is far more contemporary in my view and they make some cracking stuff albeit very expensive, it's very big with the Italians and I remember seeing Juventus fans sporting a lot of that gear when they came over.

Adidas trainers will never go away, just look fantastic albeit I do like the old school Borg Diadora trainers as well

    Good post ..

I don't like the fruit pastel coloured look from head to toe, yellow trainers and orange jackets and brown tops with back caps etc, fucksake i'm not a colour coordination officer
    but it's ridiculous..

Put diadora all white elites and navys on ebay as they are too bulky and look better off than on, same as a saucony shadow 5000 pair, same reason..

Still can't go wrong with gazzells and pumas ..
Moncler is right up there, john smedley , Nigel hall, woolrich, filson , folk, Oliver Spencer, j crew, our legacy, maharishi, some cp and even north face and barbour are all a collective lot i regularly circle for bits amongst others..

Thing is, it's getting so popular now with folk my age that very soon I can guarantee it will no longer be popular. That's fashion.

I mean I remember no that long ago I wouldn't be seen dead with a pair of diadora gutties or in an Ellesse Jacket for example. Still wouldn't wear them but still guys go daft for it. As with anything once everyone has it, there is always some * wanting to start something new. This style disappeared in the 80's and it will probably do so again and come around in another 30 year.

For anyone with an interest/past in wearing stuff like this there is a good documentary I watched ages ago, called 'BUFF:Casuals'. Talks about alot of the old casual scene in the 80's and how it evolved from the Mod era.
