He has to know that, surely. Think he's trying to say the right things here and there to sell PPVs but I think he knows it's an easy night for Taylor. There's no rivalry there so the GAO was kinda stale. You can tell it was sorta forced & they had no real answers beyond "we'll find out" or "we'll see on February 26th".

I hope Taylor moves up after this fight.

I still can't believe the lack of excitement over Josh Taylor - one of the best fighters the UK has produced.

He was a very good fighter - unfortunately the thing that made him so exciting to watch (his gameness) was ultimately his undoing. He could have been a great had he known when to box clever, but then he wouldn't have been the same entertainer I suppose.

His chin is often criticised, and I agree that it wasn't the best, but it was nowhere near as bad as some folk say. He was never beaten by a weak punch - his style meant that sooner or later the was going to eat something solid... and he ate plenty which he rode perfectly well. Most shots that put him on *-street were stormers!

Folks forget that he was giving Canelo all kinds of problems before walking into a howitzer. Canelo got down on his knees beside the stricken Khan when their fight ended - said it all for me!

    Yeah, he's a bit of a *, but what a career!

Weirdly, he’s become quite underrated. Had a really good career, always in exciting fights and has an absolute warrior mentality, despite the fragile chin.

Unintentionally hilarious as well. You can see the cogs turning at points here.

Fury vs Whyte seems to be going ahead. Potentially really good fight there. Invisibly Fury is a big favourite, but I expect Whyte to make it very tough for him.

If he was English it would different !! A lot of upcoming English prospects get hyped up more than Taylor has

Worth it for the buildup alone, but I can't see Whyte posing a threat.

I think Conor Benn & Eubank Jr got paid more last year in boxing than Josh Taylor.

Wouldn’t be surprised, and that in itself is shocking !! His fight against Ramirez to unify the belts wasn’t even picked up by any of the uk broadcasters, think you had to get Fite tv to watch it, that’s just unbelievable for a fight of that magnitude

This comment annoys me the more I see it.

You do realise these are sportsmen getting punched in the head repeatedly, and you want to see them “getting destroyed”.

You can always tell who actually likes boxing and who doesn’t with that *. Actually embarrassing to read.

Why don’t you lace them up you * shitebag?

    Agreed.

People need to keep in mind that despite all the safety measures in place in modern boxing, it’s still a brutal sport in which fighters still die (fairly regularly as well) or suffer life-changing injuries.

In fairness to Eddie Hearn, Brook got stabbed shortly after beating Porter which kept him out the ring, and he’s never really kept himself in great shape, notoriously struggling to make weight.

The PBC also have had all of the top welterweights tied down and keep those fights in house, hence why Terence Crawford who is arguably the best fighter on the planet, can’t get a big fight unless it’s a mandatory.

Brook would never have gotten the Porter fight had it not been mandated by the IBF.

Eddie Hearn put up millions of pounds for Brook in his prime to fight Adrien Broner, Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia, even the likes of Jessie Vargas. The PBC would never allow it.

It’s the only sport in the world where the elite get openly ridiculed by * sitting in their maws spare room and don’t get challenged on it.

Like it’s just acceptable to degrade champions who have dedicated their life to the most brutal of sports. I think people are too engrossed in the promotion of it all to realise it’s actually two guys in there trading punches to the temple.

As I say though, like with most things you are wasting your breath. These idiots would chuck it and run away after their first spar and they are criticising unified world champions :56:

The casual observer doesn't realise (or maybe just doesn't care!) about the consequences of a punch to the head.

Let's be clear. A KO = a traumatic brain injury! *, even when a fighter briefly loses coordination (not balance) through a head strike, he / she has suffered a concussion (... a traumatic brain injury!).

I love boxing, but my relationship with it has changed as I've gotten older. I'd far rather see a boxing masterclass these days than a brutal flash KO (far less a one-sided beating). I also find myself looking to the Ref to stop a fight far earlier than I used to. Am I getting softer as I get older? Maybe. Am I getting wiser (as it relates to this kind of thing)? Definitely! I suspect that my opinion on this is getting more shaped by the latter!

Back to the Khan / Brook fight - The referee did a great job: Khan was clearly suffering a concussion from a blow early on in the fight and it wasn't clearing (in fact, it was freshly recurring as KB was landing clean heavy shots regularly); it's well known that AK can (and will) fight on instinct when injured in this manner; he was taking a beating; and his strength / coordination had waned to such a point that he was unlikely to land a hail-mary to turn the tide. It would have been remiss of the Referee to have allowed the fight to progress to the likely coup de grâce.

Vitali Klitschko said something along the lines of “in chess nobody is an expert but everybody plays, in boxing everyone is an expert but nobody fights” :giggle1:

I remember speaking to a bloke at work who thought he could go rounds with Mayweather, and would only ever run the risk of getting stopped when he got too tired. I told the same guy that the best similarly sized * in the local boxing gym would stop him within 1, without breaking sweat, and that Mayweather would stop that * in the exact same manner.

Everyone I know who boxed, including myself, first walked into a boxing gym thinking they could fight pretty well. It doesn’t take too long to realise that literally everyone there can beat the crap out of you :giggle1:
