Fury’s been boxing from when he was a boy. It might not be on official records but he’s a born fighter.

Aye and naw. The most heated build ups always end up in a handshake at the end.

Wilder accused Fury of cheating in about five different ways. He then couldn’t take it because Fury made him look like a wee guy outside and inside the ring.

He’s also been on record wanting to claim a body on his record on more than one occasion. Hardly a good * as you claim. Probably one of the worst guys in the high levels of the professional game.

It’s boxing. They are putting on a show and selling fights so boxers and mixed martial artists say things all the time, you can’t just believe some of them to suit your narrative of not liking him.

I've so much more respect for Wilder after that.

Didn't box at a particularly high level, but nothing more soul destroying than up against someone schooling you, takes amazing guts to keep going.

He would beat most at the elite level with that attitude and power.

    That’s why I was asking.

He’ll never be number 1 of this era so does he chuck it or just go and fight AJ for a bag load.

    AJ vs Wilder
    Fury vs Usyk

they’re the fights to make. Unfortunately this is boxing and we are getting an AJ Usyk rematch which basically leaves the other two twiddling their thumbs. To be fair though, there was no need for a third Fury Wilder fight and it turned out to be a gift from the heavens.

To be fair Lennox is in his mid-50’s now!

    :56:

Seriously though, (for me) Lennox Lewis beats Fury all day every day. LL is a genuine contender for the GOAT.

I don’t share your apparent dislike of the guy but I agree yeah he’s miles off the top 4.

The standard of Boxing as a sport improves as the decades go by, same with any other sport. Fury is the best ever for me, however controversial that may sound.

Even Lewis conceded pre fight that he’d have serious trouble with Fury.

Truth is there’s never been a heavyweight that wouldn’t have problems with him, even if you don’t consider him to be in the debate, his attributes are as such that if the biggest puncher (arguably in history) can’t knock him out with a clean power shot to the head then most other heavyweights would be in the same boat.

    Fury is just unbelievably good..

I rate Wilder loads after that fight man. He's one tough *..

I've always thought Wilder sleeps Joshua. Reckon he knocks him out badly..

Fury beats everyone in the division..

    What a man..

I like Fury a lot, but by all accounts he was from a fairly well to do travelling family, and not some sort of scrapper as a kid.

Tremendous natural fighter though, and that’s one of the main reasons his relatively late start in boxing hasn’t been much of a hinderance. Has all the intangibles you would want in a fighter.

Haven’t seen any evidence other than people assuming that to be the case that actually backs it up.

Ive no doubt he spent time in boxing environments as a kid, but by all accounts (and I include people who knew him on the * scene in this) he wasn’t some sort of street fighting gypsy as a boy, more like a fairly uncertain middle class kid.

Absolutely a born fighter though, like I said all the intangibles you could ask for.

I agree with you (and Lennox!) that every heavyweight that’s ever lived WOULD have problems working out Big Fury, but I strongly suspect Lennox would have taken him out.

Lennox’s right cross was right up there with Wilders windmills (power-wise). If it landed, the lights went out. Main difference between Lennox and Wilders being, Lennox’s right cross was laser guided, it flew straight, and he had a high ring IQ.

    I’d still pick LL.

It’s an integral part of their culture though regardless of how well to do he was growing up (I have no idea l). I’m just saying I have lived in an Irish town all my life with plenty of travellers and their entire life revolves around who’s the best bare knuckle boxer etc :giggle1:

in the pre fight announcements it also said he started boxing at 10. His Dad is John Fury though and I can pretty much guarantee you he was being shown how to throw punches from day dot. They didn’t call him Tyson for nothing.

His lineage is fighting, on both paternal and maternal sides. Some of the greatest bare knuckle fighters of all time - his family having a few quid is immaterial to the fact he’s been bred to fight.
