I dont know if it was scored on the must system but even if not, its not often a round will be scored even. I would have give Alvarez 3 or 4 rounds but as you say, there were a lot of close (ish) ones. I think the two judges who scored for Floyd were good enough but the even card was a bit puzzling.

Glad I'm not the only one who was disgusted by the biased commentary. UK commentary and understanding of boxing is on the whole miles behind their american counterparts. Last night was cringeworthy at points.

I don't think mayweather was close to his best last night. Probably about 10 of the 12 rounds were very very even, although you did get the feeling that mayeeather stole them with cleaner work when it counted. Alvarez had some good rounds but mayweather just edged the majority for me.

Close fight. Boring fight. Disappointing night and * commentary.

As you are a proponent of saying Mayweather picks opponents etc, does last night not change your opinion, as that was a elite boxer he schooled throughout the whole fight?

It doesn't change my opinion of him from before this fight no. You have to remember that when he retired the 1st time round, his best win at welterweight would probably have been Ricky hat ton, which for a man of mayweather ability is an awful record.

Nevertheless I stand corrected on the Canelo fight, I didn't think he would take it. I think Hammer was on here saying he would a while back and he was proven right. No problem admitting that :smiley-laughing002: hopefully he continues in the same fashion from now on.

Maybe but who has he really left to fight that would be better than Alvarez?

Khan some are saying, but that would be a horrible fight.
Also Khan no more deserves a fight against Mayweather than me.

I was making the point that the fact he 'ducks' opponents was a myth which, considering he has cleaned out the division of any credible opponent, has proven to be true.

Canelo was the guy boxing fans wanted to see him fight, I personally thought it came too early for a 23 year old with 1 big fight to his name and that was proven to be true. The fact they are now speaking about Khan as his next opponent proves he has beat any decent opposition out there, Khan has lost 2 of his last 4 fights to guys not even in the same stratosphere as Mayweather.

Never saw the fight, had intentions of watching it but started early for the Hoops game and was * out my *, so was long asleep before it started. :52:

Shameful if Khan gets a fight with Mayweather, aside from the fact he will be made to look like the * fraud he is, he doesn't deserve the payday.

No more that a pay-per-view seller.

The Garcia and Matthysse fight was a cracker I thought, and totally outshone the main even, which Mayweather won comfortably. The fact that Khan is even getting mentioned to be an opponent for Maywaether is laughable. Khan got slapped about silly from Garcia and stepped up a weight.

The guy in the studio was saying that Mayweather should come to Britain to fight Khan, why the * should he. If Khan wants to fight Mayweather, then it should be in the US.

Garcia would be a walk in the park for Mayweather but then I suppose you could say that about any boxer in and around their weight class.

I'd be more excited about a potential fight with Golovkin who has already stated he'd fight Mayweather. That guy knocks people out cold for a living and is the type of fighter you need to beat someone like Mayweather because despite what Khan has been, saying speed and footwork won't beat him - he is the master of it even at 36. You need a knockout artist with brutal power.

Cause the UK never gets to see Mayweather. Mayweather I think values money above all else except winning, what better than to have 90,000 at Wembley paying £60 a head and watched worldwide €£$££$ and an easy match against Khan?

I dont think Mayweathers the type who cares how good the guy hes boxing is, infact he probably prefers easier fights if he can get them. If he was interested in beating the best around he'd have fought Pacquiao a few years ago.

Mayweather may choose to. But the guy was saying that he should come to Britain to fight Khan, and he wasn't talking about it from a money point of view. I just don't see why he should, unless it is for the money (so it may happen), but he has nothing to prove. He is the best in the World, and if Khan wants a crack and put on his *, once again, then it should be in the US, if that's what Mayweather wants to do.

If he came here then £60 would be lucky to get you a car parking space, never mind a ticket.
