Ricky showed some courage to fight on with that injury, hea got the heart of a lion. I chipped my cheekbone a few years back and it was absolute agony do can't imagine what a broken jaw is like.

With regards to the fight I had Ricky losing by at least 2 round plus a knockdown so down by 3 points in my opinion. Absolutely shocking decision tbh, really feel for that lad, seems a very decent and honest guy.

I would love to know exactly how the judges score these, I cannot understand how they can score them so differently.

The last fight I remember watching and being that bemused at the result was pacquiao vs Bradley. I only gave Bradley 2 or 3 rounds the entire fight that was robbery. This goes on far too much now, and something needs to change.

Have to say as well, I dont think Burns is very good. He seems to get a lot of publicity in Scotland and spoken about a lot but he's not that good a boxer, not very hard hitting, not much class and not much anything really. He's not even half as good as even someone like Ricky Hatton.

Shame for Beltran like, I was desperate for Ricky to win, but when it was announced a draw, it was cringeworthy and embarrassing. Obviously pleased for Ricky but it's not right. Hopefully a rematch is on the cards.

Fair play to Paddy Power, they're paying out for anyone who bet Beltrand.

Boxing in fighter gets home advantage shocker!

This kind of thing happens all the time in boxing, which is why you constantly hear that a challenger has to go into the champions home town and virtually rip the title away from him.

It's not right, but it happens. It's happened against British fighters a lot more than it has in their favour to be honest.

He absolutely DID rip the title away from him though. He broke his jaw and floored him on the way to what should have been a lopsided points win.

That's simply not true. If I was a foreign fighter, Britain would be one of the last places I would want to come and fight a home fighter.

A lopsided win? I wouldn't go that far. I had him winning by two points, but it was hardly Mayweather-esque.

It's not true? You haven't seen British fighters go abroad and lose controversial decisions in the past?

Look at Martin Murry getting robbed in Argentina.

I like Ricky and going back to the Mitchel fight he looked excellent but think he might have been shown up at world level tonight and in his last fight. He can box but it looks like he tries to be to macho and force the fight. I mean he was leaving himself so open last night and trying to swing with looping shots not protecting his chin.

Fair play to him fighting on with a broken jaw but its his own fault it got broken by not defending properly.

Felt really bad for Beltran as he has had a tough career and has lost a few dodgy decisions in the past.

Really you could have scored it 115-112 or 115-113 to Beltran depending on how well you thought Ricky recovered from the knockdown. Either way no way he won the fight.

If you had him winning by 2 points you scored the fight wrong. Mayweather has been involved in closer fights than what we saw last night.

British fighters have been involved in controversial decisions before. In recent times though, the balance has swung, and the UK has become on of the hardest places to get a decision for a non-UK based fighter.

    My card was:
    1. 10-9 Burns
    2. 19-19 Beltran
    3. 28-29 Beltran
    4. 37-39 Beltran
    5. 46-49 Beltran
    6. 55-59 Beltran
    7. 65-68 Burns
    8. 73-78 Beltran
    9. 82-88 Beltran
    10. 91-98 Beltran
    11. 101-107 Burns
    12. 111-116 Burns
    Beltran 116-111

It's a horrendous sport at time, when it can affect someone's career like that.

Jeezo he must have been in agony. Fair play for fighting on but he still shouldn't be the champion.

Clearly I scored it more accurately than some :smiley-laughing002:

There was literally no aspect of Burns game, other than his heart, that looked impressive last night.

He gave Beltran nothing to think about.

Got to feel for Beltran. Hope Burns does the right thing and gives him a rematch in the States when his jaw heals.

Anyone tempted by 11/2 on Alvarez winning by KO, TKO or DQ?

Hearn was already talking about a mandatory bout he'll have to fulfil first. By the time that happens Beltran will be old news, and rightly so. Burns is the champion. He got away with his title last night, but he has no obligation to Beltran. If the fight makes financial sense then sure, but if not, then * him. That's how the game goes.
