Fury retired. I have my doubts about it. Heard it mentioned Fury is due in front of the Brittish Boxing authorities and is looking at a ban of some sorts for a prior drug offence.

My cynical side thinks the following will happen. Fury will be stripped of his title which Klitschko and Joshua will fight for. Assuming Joshua defeats Klitschko and once Fury's ban is over. He'll "come out of retirement" and then Sky will be promoting Joshua v Fury this time next year.

    Is Fury not mentally unstable?

Allowed the 'mental health' card to be inferred on his behalf as a way of explaining his (second!) cancellation.

Turns out he'd actually been busted for taking coke.

    Stole 12 months from Klitschko's career. :47:

    The sport won't miss him.

To win all the belts and never be beaten in the ring and yet you lose it all within a year.. just crazy. I used to quite like the guy as I did Billy Joe Saunders but both of them are moronic.

That's terrible, that is a whole year of some guy's career who's been training every day I imagine. Taking coke is so disappointing, almost sounds like he's looking for a way out. I hope he doesn't get a fight with Joshua, he deserves to start from the bottom again if he's been doing drugs. When you're making millions of money in sport you can't mess about.

I do worry about Joshua fighting Klitschko, I don't know if he's ready for him yet as he's so experienced. He's got most to lose in that fight. Still though, would be big box office.

    Aye - see he's 'un-retired' now.

I really wish he would just *-off.

He's the lineal Heavyweight champion of the world, and that doesn't change because he's a moron.

Belts, no belts. It doesn't matter. He was the man who beat the man, so to speak.

Great news that he's not retired to be honest. Hope he gets his act together though.

I hope he * off soon gets himself on correct medication and comes back, otherwise he wasting peoples time with his childish antics. I can't see him not being stripped of his belts and I hope they do strip him of them. He will hold up the HW division and in the process he will lose any remaining fans he has left if continues being a *.

Not quite sure why you're aiming that comment at me Dáibhí as I never entered into this current discussion about his claim as a 'lineal' champion.

But seeing as you brought the subject up...

Fury was the man who beat Wladimir Klitschko. And Klitschko was the man who hadn't beaten any previous linear champion! The line was broken after Lennox Lewis retired in 2o04, and a new phase began in 2009.

But, credit to Fury for beating the inaugural champion of this particular lineal phase. Albeit a frankly dreadful period for the heavyweight scene, but that's not Fury's fault - he could only beat the man they put in front of him, and he did that.

As for Klitschko - classy guy, model professional, but lets face it - he wasn't even the best heavyweight in his family!

Hopefully once Fury does retire for good, then the inaugural champion for the next lineal phase might bring some credibility back to the division, because right now it's a pantomime!

In what way did Fury get lucky against Vlad?

He ran his mouth straight after the fight saying if Vlad wants a rematch he'd give him it in England, Vlad accepted it got messed around then got messed around again with 'injuries' and his drug addiction
He knew Vlad had his number this time round and found ways to avoid the fight
He should just retire back to his caravan and let Anthony Joshua and Vlad fight for the right to be the undisputed champion

Has Fury ever not ran his mouth?

He's been on the gear, partying with fan's at the Euro's and put on about 5 stone...plus various mental health accusations amongst other thing's been banded about..

I don't know what he's playing at, but I do know he absolutely bossed Vlad in his backyard to become champion, and the likelihood hood is that same Fury would beat Vlad again over here. It won't happen now though, so easy for people to label him a shitebag..

Don't think you can label someone a shitebag for going and convincingly winning against the same opponent in his own backyard..

No denying he bossed Vlad impressively however Vlad has been the one too come out of the fight better he's had 2 postponements but he's kept his mouth shut about the situation and looks set to earn millions fighting Anthony Joshua in Britain
Fury will always be a world champion in the record books but his behaviour since winning it has been embarrassing
