Even if we win the league, I'd like to see changes. Don't ask me who but the chiefs running the club just now obviously don't care as much as a lot of us fans do about the moment.

Not forgetting us still having to beat Hearts, which doesn't look very likely at all at the minute.

I honestly dont think there's anything wrong with the board and what they're doing. We aren't rolling in piles of money we are staying a float by our own means. We cant spend millions on players it would be great if we could but we cant. We wont get much better than we are at the moment unless we get lucky with a new manager or with signings that they turn out great or someone or a group of good players comes through the youth team.

People moan about the board saying they should be spending more, if we were to spend £5m on a player and the £30,000 a week wages and he turned out * we would be * and we probably cant afford to take that kind of chance.

That's all i had to read there mate.

1 - We do have money to spend, but the board spend that much time trying to negotiate and stretch the budget that we end up losing all our targets to other clubs. Incompetent.

2 - We aren't and never will be rolling in piles of money and are staying afloat by our own means. But whatever they are doing is not working. We are a football club where football is secondary to business practice. How can you live with that?

15 years ago irresponsible financial management nearly left us bankrupt. During Martin O'Neill's tenure we reached unsustainable levels of debt and spending.

Today the financial responsibility of the board makes us one of the most financially secure clubs in Europe. Today we are in a global recession, by the end of the decade we'll have clubs dropping like flies under their own stupidity.

No one likes us being unable to spend big anymore, and if we could go out and buy players at £5m-£10m a pop we would. But we can't, so stop all the reactionary, ill-thought out and tedious moaning about things no one can control.

Why are we told year upon year that there is money to spend then?

because they want the season ticket cash...Im pretty happy with the board but I think they are too cautious when it comes to transfer dealings..they pride themselves on being debt free,,but fail to realise that to succeed we need to invest..

We have money in the sense it's there, but we can't compete in the transfer markets with the 1st and 3rd highest spending Leagues on Earth right next door to us.

Any half decent player we go for, you can be sure there is someone down south who will happily double our offer.

We can't compete anymore. No one in Europe can. The problem is also amplified with the global recession underway and more and more big spenders wanting to get some of the Premiership pie.

You can invent cynical little tales of Peter Lawwell and Desmond sitting around eating babies and thinking of ways to scam the plebs but nothing short of a major shift in the balance - waaay out of our direct control - can change things.

I don't buy that for a second mate. There are funds to buy players of course there are, i think they are just * scared to commit large amounts to a single player for fear of that player not making the impact they are expected to make.

It's not my job to figure out ways round it, but if Celtic want to be a successful football club they will need to find ways round it.

You can't sit there and tell me there's not thousands of players out there waiting to be uncovered and brought over for a couple of mil, players that clubs down south don't even know exeist. We are meant to have a scouting 'network' - what exactly is John Park doing at the club when the height of our ambitions are Willo Flood and Steven Fletcher?

Easy to criticise, never to create, right?

And the policy at this time is to concentrate efforts on scouting young talents we can develop.

You have to accept that the days of going out and buying a big-money player from a big league are over in Scotland. Bringing through young players is the future, it is the adaptation we have to make in order to survive. Rome was not built in a day. It will take time.

As for plucking out an unknown, had you heard of the likes of Boruc or Nakamura before they signed? We'll take gambles on these kind of players, some will work out and some wont. Reality of the situation.

Celtic is a business. No business can realistically hope to survive making losses every year, especially in the present climate.

Get your head out your * for 5 minutes here m8 and grow a brain.

No one's saying we need to spend the kind of money we spent when MON first came to the club. We have money available to us for the manager to buy players, that has been said by the man that matters, so you can disregard the 'sign and develop youth' bullshit coz am not interested.

The money available should be getting used for good quality experienced European players that the scouts, who seem to be working so hard trying to find young guys that will never see the light of day and who we are far from short on already, should not have any problems finding whatsoever.

And to be honest i know for a fact you will never understand where am coming from because your last paragraph shows you to be a suit rather than a Celtic fan.

Frankly, no one asked your opinion on it. And, clearly, with good reason.

Another armchair expert, * you guys get around.

Again, you don't seem to realise these players don't want anything to do with Scottish football.

And why should they? They are either priced out of our market, chasing a move to England or simply don't have any interest in a country who are slipping further and further behind with every passing season.

It's worrying, how many people will ignore reality because it's not what they want it to be.

    :56:

What I'm not is a spoilt, reactionary halfwit with an overinflated sense of expertise in a subject I clearly don't understand.

I'm a realist, I can see further than tomorrow when looking to the future.

I don't think the definition of "Celtic fan" was left up to you, either. Christ, the irony to which some people slip to.
