Do you know this for a fact.....are you his agent....??
The board were being real....no point in going for a manager thats used to spending 10/20 million on a player, its time celtic fans faced facts...we struggle to get good players cause of cost and wages....the same can be said about managers.
We are guessing who the board went for and who turned us down, how do we know they didnt try for a sesoned manager and got turned down.

so when did the board ever listen to the fans ? never .

the board didnt fancy paying the right man for the job the right money ( whoever he may have been) partly because mowbray was still on the payroll

im sure you agree ,something has to give . is it the season ticket sales or the ambition of the board ?

or do we have to show the board we are not happy ?

I dont think the board sat there and thought ok who can we get thats cheap as *....they may have gone for plenty but they all wanted a big war kitty that we just didnt have.

but what we do know is we can afford better on the pitch and off it and we are being short changed. we are signing mediocre players who arent doing a job . so would you rather have 4 donkeys on 15k a week or 2 quality signings on 25 k week ?

would you rather have the current management structure on whatever a week or pay someone more who is tactically better and will get more out of what we have along with maybe being better in the transfer market ?

false economy at celtic park . how much dead wood wages are kicking about ?

My biggest issue with our current board is not necessarily the lack of spending in itself, but the rather what the fans pay in relation to what we get on the park.

I believe all fans are asked to fork out too much money but perhaps none more than celtic. Until recently at least we had among the biggest strip sales in Europe, among the biggest season ticket sales, weekly average attendances, biggest preseason tours, and all on top of several massive share issues. Is there really another set of fans in Europe (or the world) that pay what celtic fans do to watch the level of product that we watch?

Simply put the board should have to answer 1.) what are the ambitions of the club? and 2.) why do you think the current level of investment is enough to reach your aims?

Like everyone here I would support celtic whether they are the best team in the world, or a part time outfit. If we are only a scottish club with no realistic european ambition, then say so and adjust prices accordingly. Cut ticket prices and never again ask fans to put up for ridiculous share issues and global preseason tours. Bring through local youth like days of old and fill our stadium by lowering prices. If we are a massive club with a realistic european ambition, then continue current income generating projects, but the board has to back it up with real spending! If we need a new manager then spend more, and if we need a defence then spend some real money and get one.

If the board does not do this I really believe the club will continue to worsen. Fan numbers will fall and people will become even more apathetic than they currently are regarding our club.

Do you seriously think the current budgets are in any way stretching the likes of Desmond? It’s a charitable sum.

Oh we have enough dead wood to build the * ark twice over but if no one wants them we cant force a sale, and i dont see any players leaving without a nice big pay off fee.
The problem is mate the epl and spl is litterd with failed manager signings and dud players that looked good on youtube....lol.
it has been shown time and time again ££££££ does not mean quality.
Mon got big money to spend and it took celtic 3-5 years to sort out the mess he left behind, next time it might take 5-10 years to sort out a mess.

The problem is the board are measuring our need to spend by observing domestic activity (rather than recognizing that Celtic needs to sustain its reputation as a force internationally).

Buying in accordance with the growth of Rangers or Hearts is why we’re an irrelevance so far as Europe.

The board are not spending in relation to the rest of the spl, they are spending what celtic can afford.

no they are not . they are spending as little as possible to get by.

I've been ranting about this for years and nobody seems to listen! Football is not that different from the global economy; it's quite simple:

(DEBT > PROFIT) X ENOUGH TIME = APOCOLYPSE!

Would be the best thing that could happen to football! Then Celtic's negligible debt would put us right back on top, whilst the big spenders went to *. Sky are powerful, but even they have limits...give it time!

the cash is going to balance the books . we must be the only club in britain that doesnt have debt . now thats not a bad thing but its unrealistic is competitive football.

unfortunately a level of debt comes with success .

we pay far too much for whats on the park . simple

I really really dont think 20 to 30 players since wgs left is doing as little as possible to get by.....if ranger jumped of a bridge would you want celtic to follow follow...:56:

missing the point wullie . signed 20-30 players but how much did it really cost with who went out ?

what im saying is the board would have been pressured more if rangers were buying and the fans would have pushed them .

you know what we have to take a certain part of the blame here in the fact we have let the board away with this

see now we are getting somewhere......celtic and the board get a gun held to there heads everytime we goo for a player.
We are not debt free....we was at £500,000 and then we bought two defenders and bang bang....we will now be over 5 million in debt leaving us just 7-8 million to play with if we spend to much of that we could end up like the huns......very short of cash.
