if what he says is true ,,it seems to me ,hes telling us to be proud of the team ,,we would be chuffed if they put a show on now and again

it was just as i read it,,u may not agree but personal insults dont help anyone,,besides celtic fans arent thick are they,

That's how confident we are in our own ability these days? We take what the huns are doing into consideration?

A while back i might have seen this as a derogotory comment against a great Celtic servant but actualy think there might be an element of truth in your statement.
I think MON knew if he stayed his buget would have been well cut and i honestly think that his own ego would be saying as far as tools to do the job goes "I can do better than that"

Dont get me wrong. I loved MON as our manager and would have him back in a minute but ive come to the conclusion that he likes a fair size budget and a certain level of player to work with and unless he got it then he wouldnt be interested.
Lets be honest No big clubs want or Wanted Strachan whilst MON was and is a coveted capture for any club.
I think if MON had stayed he would have put together just as good a side as Strachan with the diluted budget Strachans worked from. Im also 100% sure he would have had as much success as Strachan has had mainly because of the poor opposition Strachans teams have had to face since he was given the job.

    I agree with 95% of that.:50:

The only point I disagree with is you imply MON is a Check-book manager.Tom this is untrue as just look through his career.Wycomb no money(success) Leiscter no money (success) Celtic took over a team that needed immiediate money thrown at it so yes for the first time in his career he had a few quid to spend and again a Success. But after his initial cash splash he spent next to nothing for the rest of his tenure. Now at Villa in comparison to where he has taken them from the money he has spent is peanuts compred to the teams he is competing with Liverpool, spurs etcetc.

I disagree guys.. As fans we have to have one eye on our direct competition because they are the only potential challengers to our teams crown..

I'll agree in the sense that our players should only be concerned about what they do , and should be driven on by the manager to close out games , (Maybe that's where Strachan is lacking) and I was very * off by the way we played at Tynecastle earlier in the season.. We took the lead and for the most part were really comfortable without dominating the game , but it was almost like we tried to protect our 3 point lead over the huns at the time , instead of pushing forward for a second goal to secure the three points , and inevitably we allow the other team late pressure and "It wisnae me" concedes the penalty..

Similar in Inverness where we have the 3 points wrapped up in half an hour , fade out the game and lose.. It's like they believed the job was done and tried to protect what they had , and sometimes when you ease of the pedal you can't step up your game to the level you started.. (Part of the reason I was * off by our lack of intent in the game in Barcelona because had we scored in the 45-60 minute period there's no guarantee Barca would have stepped their game up again , there's just no knowing what would have happenned)..

    That * me off..

The rest of the teams in SPL will improve from years gone by but unless they get major financial investments we should still be beating those teams 9 times out of 10 and I accept if we win every 9 out of ten games against that kind of opposition then the only way we can have an unsuccesfull league campaign is by losing to the huns.. We are chasing so we are obviously going to bring up the huns when we talk about winning the title..

I feel the fact people are saying "* them and just talk about ourselves" is just another of these "Stop using the term old firm" type things where it sounds good and then others jump on the bandwagon , when the bottom line is that it makes little difference and is just a bit pernickity..

He wasn't sought after but think he stated well in advance of leaving Southampton that he was taking 18 months out the game to have his hips replaced and concentrate on getting himself back to health afterwards..

Kevin m8 currently we have to look at what the oposition are doing and yes if they are a threat then we have to keep a close eye on them.

However to me we have dropped silly points at the games you outline in your post along with numeous others. As a club in the financial position we currently enjoy in comparison the rest of the league then IMO we should be out of site in the league and have no need to worry what others are doing. Instead we are chasing because for the first time since WGS took over their is a threat.

I just think with our financial footing this conversation should not even be in our heads.

But it's us (celtic fans) who are talking about the huns.. Not once have the players or manager come out and mentioned any concern about them , and if Im not mistaken it's the likes of me and others talking about the huns who are being referred to in squires post and then seconded by yourself.. It doesn't show any fear , I think it's always gone on that we talk about them , their banners are about us , maybe they are privately fearing us.. Just mentioned in another thread Cousin has a broken jaw and will be out for at least a month.. Now don't tell me hearing that news doesn't make you feel a little bit better..

At what stage did MON become coveted by all these clubs. There was Leeds when the the two faced little toad actually agreed to join them while giving it big licks to the fans about how much he was loving his time at the Tic and how he was always a fan. There was reported interest from Engerland after he left. He then took the Villa job, not the most high profile. So for a man who was so highly thought of, he got a job that there was no one really crying out for.

How do people know that he would have built as good a team as WGS? You dont. If you look at all the signings, Thompson, Sutton, Hartson, who else were thte great buys he made. He paid big money for two and a reasonan]ble amount for the 2nd. All the other buys he made either didnt cut it or were good in fits and starts (dont anyone try and mention Agathe as a good signing.. please my blood couldnt take it). Hos 2 best players were Larsson and Petrov. Signings he inheritied.

WGS didnt inherit these guys at the top of their game as the great MON did. The team was full of aging players on big contracts. WGS has made sum bad buys, but who hasnt.

And the comment that MON could hav ebuilt a team as good as WGS is laughable. MON had the big money signings and failed at getting us to the last 16 of the champs league. WGS has spent less but got us there 2 years on the trot. Prob getting put out by the eventual winners 2 years on the trot.

So all hail WGS, MON is dead!!!
